That's 10 days of water for an 18-hole golf course during summer in the South.

Tragic.

We recently had a broken water main, about 36". No big deal, except this one was right under an elevated light transit track, unfortunately right at a point where this elevated track touches ground.

Anyway, digging wasn't an option. So one of our guys had to crawl through almost 100 feet of water main, Bishop-in-Aliens-style, to fix it.

Compared to that, my IT job here is cozy.

Ah, Bay City.  Such good memories growing up in Huron County, and that was "The Big City" we'd go to for clothes shopping for the new school year, and we'd beg to go there to spend our money, and beg extra so we could hit the arcade.

There is some beautiful architecture there, both private residences, commercial businesses, and churches.

Update: The water break was found on Water Street near the water treatment plant. You would think they would look there first..... Having water twice in the location. It was meant to be.

2014-08-11 06:41:31 PM
They were actually worried that the break was in a line UNDER the Saginaw river.. I am from Bay City and have been really teasing my friends there about enjoying my never ending tap water..  but in truth.. GA has it worse than them..

too bad they found it though... a good panic is what people need now and then..

The main that broke was a 24-inch pipe; they found the break when they noticed a lot of water coming out from an abandoned 36-inch storm drain.

This comment fta was hilarious: Those people in Ohio who couldn't drink their local water have probably tapped into the BC system. After all, the loss started on a weekend,, when City officials were least diligent about their oversight responsibilities

Aren't you the one typically going on about how the total debt doesn't matter, but the debt to GDP ratio is what really matters, but interest on the debt could/will screw us unless we get our collective heads out of are debt-ridden asses?

Total debt matters.  Debt to GDP is just a comparative measure of this 'total debt'.

In any case, when you are in debt as far as we are, saying that we are rich is -well- rich.

Sorry, I never saw the point in jokes about the town formerly known as Lower Saginaw; it's like kicking a guy when he's down.

FYI, Wilson's and a few other shops take online orders if you're looking for cheese from Pinny.
