Sheldon: If this is about the night the heat went out, there's nothing to be embarassed about.
Raj: It's not about that.
Howard: We agreed to never speak of it again.
Sheldon: So we slept together naked. It was only to keep our core body temperatures from plummeting.
Howard: He's speaking about it.
Raj: For me it was a bonding moment.

TFA: temperatures nearing what researchers think are record lows

Now how can that be? Climate morons tell us that Antarctica is melting down and the ice sheet collapse has already begun

Because single data points aren't proof or disproof of a long-term trend?

Also, air temperatures have nothing to do with the water temperatures that are melting the ice sheet.

I'm far too lazy to do any research to back this up, but if it's like where I live it's because the extremes in temperature are getting more frequent and more extreme, especially in winter.

/some days I wonder why I live in a place where it can get to -40

They knew what they were getting into.  Let them take what they get.

Of course I'm joking.  Dayum, they've only gotten back some power and heat?  Better than none, but I hope they get things sorted out very soon!

Mugato: Wouldn't scientists measure temperature in Celsius or Kelvin?

Would they feel better if they knew it was 218 K instead of -67 F. I mean, does 218 K feel warmer than -67 F?

If that's the case, then I'm going to start recording my weight in kilograms.

I once went without heat for an ENTIRE WEEK and just about froze my damn ass off. It was the most miserable week of my life in some ways.

That was in the PNW. Daytime temps were above freezing *and* we had a crappy little gas fireplace (no blower but still put out a small amount of heat). So yeah, I can imagine >24 hours of no heat down there would be just a wee bit of a problem.

Yeah, it's cool that they worked with what they had back then.

But now that NASA has gone metric you guys only have to travel 384,400 kilometres.

The truth is, we use BOTH systems.

Cans of soda are 12 ounces, but plastic bottles of soda are 2L.
Hard liquor is often in 750ml bottles, but ghetto malt liquor is in 40 ounce bottles.
You will find dry goods sold in grams, or ounces.

I didn't know that NASA was going through so much soda, hard liquor, and ghetto malt liquor, but I suddenly want to party with them.

Only a short 2,325 km away from Kennedy Space Center! I'll bring some dry goods for snacks.
