So America isn't getting the sequel to a movie based on a TV series that probably 99% of America has never seen?

Since it beat Guardians of the Galaxy, does that mean somebody cooked the books and everyone who bought a ticket for it is stupid?

To be fair, it's a bit of a companion piece to the series.

I do recommend the TV series though

My roommate was watching the series.  Maybe i walked into the room during the pilot episode, or maybe every episode was done like that, but what I saw was far too awkward for me to sit in the room for more than a few minutes.

With an opening day gross of just short of US $5 million in the United Kingdom, "The Inbetweeners 2" yesterday broke the record for comedies in that territory and beat out "Guardians of the Galaxy" for the day (that film was #1 last weekend in the U.K. with $10.7 million).

Do they really not watch movies or something?

2014-08-11 03:28:21 PM
Wait, there is an Inbetweeners 1?

I loved the TV series so much. I had to pause it after this scene so I could stop laughing.

The Inbetweeners is one of the best recommendations Netflix ever gave.

We only like British comedy if it involves Simon Pegg.

Sorry, Rowan, you had your day.

The better British (and Canadian and Australian and some French movies end up on US cable/satellite eventually.  You know, if you can afford the $200 extra per month to have the possible chance at maybe seeing it.

Apparently, someone in marketing didn't get the memo that they could make money off of an American release.
Or some asshole in the USA wouldn't let them do it.

/My money's on the latter.

Inbetweeners is fun. And I was happy to watch the TV episodes and movie on Netflix, but I wouldn't pay to see any of it. Mostly because I'm not 14, but also because it's just not worth spending money on.

So what? We're getting a TMNT BAYSLOSION sequel. So there!

Harry Potter and the Deadly Gallows

As opposed to those non-deadly gallows we hear so much about.

It's already on DVD and Blu-ray, so you'll have to fix up a few shopping carts or sell some dope to pick up your own copy.

Yeah, sucked it wasn't released here. Some fans didn't like it much, too much childish humor, but DUH! That's the whole show!

Benny Hill wasn't popular in the US? I used to watch that all the time growing-up.

It's British.
There is not now, nor has there ever been, anything worth watching on British TV.

Considering the majority of native English speakers live in the United States, it's theater.

One of the few times in the last few years that a scene on a TV show actually made me laugh until I hurt.

A movie's theatrical release used to account for all the money it took in....now it's probably less
than one-third.  The rest comes from TV, home video, and streaming rights.  If there's a DVD release,
you could probably pick up a copy at Wal-Mart or Target for less than $10 - less than the price of
one ticket, and you can show it 24/7 to as many people as you like.
