"An incumbent governor running for what is essentially a second re-election, with more money than God, has to be the odds-on favorite,"

I'm actually amazed the race is as close as it looks to be right now considering Walker's considerable advantages.

The goal for Democrats is to turn out some of the million or so "drop-off voters," who participate in presidential elections but sit out the other ones.

Good luck with that.

Seriously.

Apparently the 200,000 jobs he promised Wisconsin would be from people doing the re-count at the upcoming election?

Walker winning an extremely close race would be such fun. The whining from the left about it would be epic.

2014-08-11 10:24:43 AM
The outcome will also have meaning in the larger conservative movement, where Walker has been seen as proof of a governing philosophy: If you govern as a bold conservative and don't buckle under fire, you can win in a swing state

...so to hell with public service, to hell with actually making the state a place where our kids don't want to move out of when they grow up, fark you school teachers and other public employees you're getting your pay cut? All that counts is cutting taxes by $100 a year and winning elections?

fark that noise.

One of Scott Walker's duties as governor of Wisconsin is to open the state fair by going on thrill rides with the young woman anointed Fairest of the Fairs. "We went on the Freak Out and she freaked out," he told a crowd several nights later at the 23rd annual Governor's Blue Ribbon Meat Products Auction, where Walker helped sell choice cuts to raise money for the 4-H club. "And then the ride started to get slow," Walker continued, "and she got the look on her face-'thank God it's over'-and I looked over at the operator who has been doing it the last three years I've been governor and I went like this"-the governor flashed a thumbs-up and a smile-"and he did it all over again!" The governor had launched another round of spinning, dipping, and rolling (and the Fairest of the Fairs nearly freaked out of her sash).

This kind of sums Scott Walker and the modern Republican/Conservative movement. When they have a person in a vulnerable position, with the choice of being the nice guy and showing compassion/mercy or be an uncaring dick to that vulnerable person, 9 out of 10 times they choose to be the uncaring dick. Of course the one time they don't, it is someone like Rush Limbaugh getting busted for drugs, George Zimmerman, or Cliven Bundy types. This being a woman, she had no chance.

Watching interviews with undecided especially within a week of he actual election is freaking maddening.

I can never decide whether they are actual idiots or simply attention whores pretending to be actual idiots.

Dude. Seriously. Every single Walker thread since you moved has been:

I get it. And I know we roll fWc style every week, but c'mon. Seems a bit unnecessary to keep doing that.

I don't even know what's really different, outside of looking at the evidence. And I don't watch tv so I don't know if Burke is hammering those points home (like the jobs record, the budget cuts, the plans for allowing mining on protected lands, etc). I would guess not, because that seems too logical, but again I don't know. Maybe people are wising up to Walker's antics? Hoping high.

Dammit, that regressive sociopath had better not be re-elected; half of Wisconsin has already moved to Minnesota as it is.

(I actually really like Wisconsin and Sconnies, a lot. But this moron had better not be re-elected cos he's ruining the state. Wisconsin isn't supposed to be the Deep South).

I understand the hate for Scott, I just know that the green favorite box means you're here. I'm not mad, it's exhausting to talk politics all the time when you live in a place like this and the politics are so screwed up. I am having trouble looking at Fark every day because of it. It's dozens of stories a day on how one party is screwing up the whole country and how a segmented group of people hate the president with a fervent passion that defies logic (mostly because they hate him for something illogical). Wears a guy out dealing with this every day... I guess that's a sign that I couldn't be a politician.

There is an election tomorrow that Burke might want to worry about before that whole Walker battle.  It shouldn't be a problem except that no one seems to be telling dems to bother to vote, and Milwaukee talk radio has been pushing for republicans to vote in the dem half of the primary to keep their sheriff who runs as a dem for some reason in the race.

Scott Walker is living proof that liberals don't care about right or wrong and they don't care about success or failure. They care about the advancement of their political agenda, period, consequences be absolutely damned. If there was a liberal governor half a successful at turning around a state as Scott Walker has been, liberals would be pointed to it as proof of their superiority from now until dooms day.

The moral of this story is you don't get in the way of liberals using public sector unions to launder tax payer money to fund liberal campaigns. They will not abide it.

I think that's a part of why you feel as strongly as you do: the company you keep when you visit, according to your past stories, is the epitome of batshiat insane high-horse conservatives. That certainly isn't helping anything either, the fact that there are so many of those people in this state (see also: Walker beat the recall?!).

Her primary? She's fine as Brett Hulsey is a lunatic.  And yeah, the Milwaukee county Sheriff David Clarke (you might remember him from the Fark thread where he told people to be armed because response times kinda suck) runs as a Democrat but it's mostly to lap up all the people in Milwaukee county who vote straight Democrat.  The Republicans in the suburbs like him because he talk the talk.  I admit I not his biggest fan but the other guy running is about as big a yutz as Clarke is.

Early voting was a lot higher than expected, so they're forecasting decent turnout for the primary. I don't think Burke needs to worry too much, I suspect Clarke is sweating bullets, and I think most Milwaukee County voters are aware of Abele's cunning plans.
