Listen, libtardo, if you'd just accept the fantasy that is his central point, everything else makes perfect sense!  Obama is so impatient about immigration reform that he's only waited since 2009 to see something done, during which Congress has bravely made it clear that their heads are in the right place: in the sand/in front of news cameras spouting platitudes.

It's pretty bad when Salon's best stories are rebuttals of the columns of evil douchebags.

To be fair, there are a lot of evil douchebag columnists out there who need rebutting.

Do we really need an article that picks apart Krauthammer punditry? I just assume everything the idiot writes is total bullshiat, I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't even paralyzed and that was all just bullshiat too. The guy is a joke 100% all day everyday and twice on Sunday.

Seriously, this guy is a perennial contender for Most Consistently Wrong Person on the Planet Award.

His only real competition there is Bill Kristol.

And there was that one year the Time Cube guy won it but other than that it's Krautie all the way down.

I think the only point is that it drives clicks.  I've already seen FB friends sharing Krauthammer's column as a "total takedown" and sometimes I suppose it is nice to have someone else do the research and analysis to respond with in an not-so-subtle way of saying "please stop with this."  Not like it would do anything, mind you, but Salon needs page views.

I think it would be best to put your toes in, or maybe just wade into the immigration debate.

Its not something you just dive into head first.

It is isn't just that all his shiat is bullshiat, it is also stupid, poorly written, easily shot down and hateful bullshiat.

So, Obama is both inept and an evil genius who knows exactly what his opponents will do years in advance.

Just like he's both Marxist/Nazi and Muslim/(racist) Christian...as well as a peacenik/warmonger.

There isn't really any good reason to pick a specific Krauthammer column to fact check. You could just save a lot of time and effort and say "Charles Krauthammer is perpetually full of shiat and everything he writes or says is wrong, usually on purpose, because he's a dishonest sack of crap."

/ the "sack of crap" part is optional, but recommended

It's been fascinating to me what sort of disconnect there has been between left and right warning about the executive action Obama will take. Right wing commentators seem convinced that if he takes action it's going to be to just wave a hand and say "all children crossing the border are now US citizens and/or have been pardoned of the crime of illegally crossing the border." Left wing commentators seemed convinced he's going to ignore this humanitarian crisis and just start sending back kids without a trial to show he's standing tough on the issue. So far as I can tell, Obama has not really suggested either is on the table if he does take action (which he's still demanding Congress fix.)

Anyone have an actual quote from the White House of what sort of executive action he's even considering, or is it all just political junkie fever dreams?

By the taste in most cases, yes.

Some people would tell you that you are a bad man and you should feel bad for that crack but I am certainly not one of those miserable people. ^__^

To be fair, in Kristol's case Always Wrong is his mutant power

Ever wonder what would happen if you took Kristol to Vegas and told him to bet $20 on either red or black in Roulette all night long and then you bet $500 on the opposite?

I always imagined you'd manage to win at least a couple hundred grand before the Casino security caught on and kicked you both out for life.

The problem I have with Krauthammer is that every so often he trumpets the fact that he used to be a Democrat, but he "saw the light" and turned Republican.  I think he used to believe he was a Democrat, but he realized he was a Republican all along when Bush Jr. started doing things he liked.

As for the notion that Obama will sign "an executive order essentially legalizing an enormous class of illegal immigrants," that's not actually something he can do. The president can shift priorities for enforcement and shield certain groups from deportation, but he can't unilaterally grant anyone legal status, as Krauthammer's weasel-wordy use of "essentially legalizing" suggests. That may seem like a distinction without a difference, but changes to the law are much more durable than orders issued by the White House.

Obama has already issued the Executive Order for 'dreamers' in which they won't be deported and will even be granted work permits, and has signaled that he's ready to do the same for a much larger tranche of illegal aliens. Sure, it won't be in the statute books, but that's de facto legalization for at least the duration of Obama's presidency, for any Democratic presidency that might follow, and for any ensuing Republican presidency where the incumbent would rather ignore the law than risk pissing off Hispanics. That IS a distinction without a difference.

It's "aisle," and you'd have to point out that derp and compare it in order to call it a "duel."

Otherwise, you're just doing a "both sides blah blah so vote Republican" thing, which lost its comedic novelty a long time ago.

I've become more and more wary of the law of unintended consequences with our government (both parties) lately.  I've pretty convinced that there are much smarter people out there that will find loopholes to any drafted legislation or executive orders and abuse the shiat out of them.  It's so bad that all laws, executive orders should be made public and comments should be solicited to 'break' them and amend them accordingly before they become law and/or ordered.

But then again, I am so jaded, that I expect most of these loop holes and abuses are there on purpose to appease donors... so I doubt it will ever happen.
