Apparently, the local Wal-mart has been looted too, along with a quick-trip gas station.

1.  Where's lootie?
2.  They robbed QT?!  LEAVE THOSE TAQUITOS ALONE DAMN YOU!

WATTS?

According to the STL Post-Dispatch, the same lawyer that represented Trayvon's family has already been hired.

You mean when the gestapo starts shooting people in the back, some people might have a problem with it!.  YOU DON"T SAY!

Is this a white riot, like that delightfully irreverent Clash song?

Or is the other kind of riot?

They also burned down the QT because of reasons...and further more.

One of the radio stations in town has the victim's mom on the phone and she's pretty pissed off at how this whole thing turned out.

And I really can't blame her, I would be too.

"St. Louis city police are assisting by answering calls in St. Louis County"

If the county is still here in the morning, I'll be surprised.  City PD is next to useless.

I work at Hanley and I-70 (about 1-2 miles from where this happened).

This whole thing is surreal. I knew St. Louis had its race problems but I didn't think they were going to blow up like this.

They're patrolling South County on a Sunday. It will be a complete cakewalk for them. They'll be bored out of their skulls.

Yep... "Let's protest...errrr...WAIT!! We can break into everyplace and take what we want! JUSTICE! Set fires! Shoot and fight!" Christ. Every...single...time.

Al Sharpton is coming too. Last time he was here, he had a chain of people shut down I-70 for a reason I can't remember.

2014-08-11 01:18:37 AM
Can't we all just get along?

2014-08-11 01:18:48 AM
Well, quiet protests and solemn remembrance typically result in jack and shiat for these sorts of things, so... time to have a riot...

Having dealt with the absolutely pointless STL PD after having a wallet stolen, spreading them around seems pretty friggin' meaningless.  Distributed and load-balancing is how police departments should work in the first place.

2014-08-11 01:19:41 AM
oh good, they burned what they didn't steal from QT...  then they looted a chicken place...

/This looting is making me thirsty...

FTFA:  Belmar said the incident started when Brown physically assaulted the police officer, pushing him into the officer's vehicle. He said there was a struggle inside the car, and at some point Brown reached for the officer's weapon. One shot was fired inside the vehicle.

Scanner is telling cops to stay in their cars. Looks like they're using the Ferguson Target parking lot as the staging place.

There really is no stronger political statement than stealing Cheetos from a convenience store.

He didn't think 20% minority participation in construction was enough. Since it went through North City they thought it should be 50% or more.

For some reason I don't think they expected them to go up toward 270 (where there were reports of vandalism in those shopping plazas too).

Gotta admit, doesn't seem like STL County was prepared for this clusterfark at all.

Of course not. But social fury boils over and the relatively powerless lash out in the ways they know how. Once a lot of people are pissed and out of control, a lot of criminals and would be criminals are going to take advantage. Don't conflate social protest and social chaos.

I thought it was something like that, if I recall he did not accomplish his goal with that stunt.

He didn't say it was justified.
He implied it was expected.  I agree.

It's a complex situation that's rapidly changing and being reported on as it unfolds.

The problem is St. Louis county is like 70 different little shiat towns. A lot of these municipalities run on different radio frequencies and can't always talk to each other.
