(Haaretz)   Think Penguins are small, cute, cuddly creatures? Well thousands of years ago, 7-foot tall 250 pounders roamed the Antarctic. Try Happy Feet on THAT one   (haaretz.com) divider line 97

Damn, I hate that we live in an age where all the giant things are gone. All we have are elephants and bigfoot. Whales are shiat, hiding underwater like chumps all day. Also they don't have legs, so aren't scarey. Bring back megafauna!!

That would be a great choice to start cloning... if they actually tasted good.  Even better if they could run fast so you could hunt them. Toss in some cheetah genes when ya clone them.. and some delicious buffalo! Any possible way to get some bar-b-q sauce in that critter right off the bat??

Africa (and Asia) is(/are) hogging all the good mega fauna.

We need good ol', Grade A genetically reconstituted megafauna of our own here. Like the Wooly Mammoth... and Smilodon... And we should let them roam free. Like nature intended.

CSB: In Antarctica our breaker was "moored" to the ice, and a bunch of us went onto the ice to kick around a soccer ball.

Next thing we knew a bunch of Adelie penguins had showed up, curious as to what the strange creatures were doing. I don't know about now, but then they still had no fear of humans.

They were cute.

Megaceros, wooly rhino, mammoths, megatherium, dire wolves, cave lions, terror birds (Andalgalornis steulleti), the ever-popular smilodon.  All that good stuff.
