I think it is true, this was actually reported a few years ago by the various antivirus companies that researched stuxnet. I could be wrong, though.

Good thing Captain Picard wasn't in charge of this Stuxnet program, he would have wimped out of sending the virus...

Stuxnet had too much money invested into it for some amateur night script kiddie to chance blowing it just for the lulz. Even if it is the reason anyone does anything. I doubt this is true.

Blasphemy. Thunderstruck kicked ass in 1990, it kicks ass now, and will still kick ass in 100 years.

/"dirty deeds" is barely, if even, in their top 10 anyway

The RIAA would have better luck sending Jon Doe lawsuits to the American and Israeli governments for "public performance without a license". But I dunno if there's precedence for performance in a country where the music is banned. Still, PIRACY! and all that.

2014-08-11 05:01:14 AM
Well, it's not as if music has never been used in military operations before.

But this story reminds me of a time in grad school when a friend of mine logged in remotely to the workstation I was using and started playing the James Bond theme really loudly. There were a couple of Chinese students in the lab with me, completely baffled about the music and annoyed with me for disturbing their concentration...

Is it possible to kill a copyright lawyer by normal, mortal means?
I always assumed you had to cut their heart out and shove a silver spike through it and bury it at a crossroads at midnight, or something like that.

We use AC/DC at Gitmo to break down prisoners.

We don't use them in viruses designed to take out Iranian centrifuges. You don't farking alert your target that you've compromised their "Centrifuge is out of balance and is about to explode" server.

I'm kind of partial to "The Badpiper" version of Thunderstruck.  Just something about a punk bagpiper playing AC/DC and having *FLAMES* shoot out of his drones that says "These go to eleven".

From what little I know about Stuxnet that was my understanding the way it was to work was to make it look like there was equipment failure, not that there was a virus controlling their systems. Though I think I also read somewhere that the system was designed so that you wouldn't know there was something wrong with the system until you tested the materials coming out of the centrifuge and realized that it didn't work.

Dirty Deeds is leaps and bounds ahead of thunderstruck musically and lyrically.

To say otherwise is just asinine.

That's pretty much the goal of any virus. They don't want to be noticed so they can continue their work for as long as possible.
