I made it through the Pokemon movie back in the day.  I thought I might actually die in the theater.  You can pull through.

I'm not worried about sitting through it. I've seen worse, I am sure. It's just going to cost me 25 bucks for the damned 3D tickets plus concessions, so after it's all said and done, I'll have dropped like fifty dollars on the whole thing. The Blu-Ray will cost half that in a few months. Oh, well, it's given me an excuse to get my old Eastman & Laird original black and white comics out and read them to him.

Watched TMNT for free & paid for Storm, the one with that makes weather people weep was the least stupid of the 2.

TMNT: Hope you like Megan Fox's doe eyed doll face, she's in it more than the Turtles. It's basically TF1 all over again.

i don't normally agree with headlines like this, but come on. Guardians should have trounced the Turtles.

I watched Guardians of the Galaxy again yesterday, this time in IMAX 3D. Holy shiznit that was so much more awesome! :D

Also, something I didn't notice the first time because I was paying attention to the characters rather than the background: The slugs from Slither (another James Gunn movie; great flick with Nathan Fillion) in the Collector's collection were a nice touch. :)

Yes, that was awesome. I'm not big on 3D, but GOTG made some great use of it.

Am I the only one that never considered TMNTs a "beloved franchise"? it was just a mediocre cartoon from the 80's.

I'm heading off now to buy a ticket for an afternoon show. I have a group of 8 people.. everyone except 2 wanted to see it in 3D.. so we're not seeing it in 3D :(

I read a review that said it's bad enough to suck, and good enough to get through.  I'm not sure what that means, but I told my cousin before he went to see it and confirmed, that's what it was like.

Dinki: Am I the only one that never considered TMNTs a "beloved franchise"? it was just a mediocre cartoon from the 80's.

I didn't think that cartoon was very good. It was certainly pretty awful compared to the original comic that spawned it - dark, bloody, adult language. But it also spawned some pretty bad movies in the early 1990's, some awful comics that were companions to the cartoon, and then Nick brought it back for the current animated series that is actually much better than the one from the 1980's, and is my son's current obsession. It's more than just a cartoon from the 1980's.

Going to plan on seeing GotG again this week in retaliation.

although I am sick at my stomach that Michael Explosions Bay continues to make more money in one second than I make a year thanks to you all feeding his stupid ticket sales,  I am somewhat relieved that even with the late summer push and highly-little-kid audience, it only managed about 66% of what GotG on 1st weekend of release.  At least the good summer action movie this year actually did well financially.

The Internet Movie Critic Brigade is like a shark; if they stop taking every opportunity to hate Michael Bay, they'll die.

So apparently the most decisive way to get rid of this menace is to find Michael Bay and blow him up?

As someone who thinks subtlety, good dialogue, good acting and believable plots make a good movie, I'm getting a kick out people arguing over which movie has better ear blasting explosions and brain deadening CGI.

From the review in Columbus Alive:
"It isn't nearly as bad as it could have been. Mind you, it isn't good. It isn't even "so bad it's good." It's just there. I wish it was better. Or worse."

Wow.  Talk about damning it with faint praise.

He's five. He's not an imbecile. He's seen the adds during the cartoon. He knows it's coming to the theaters and he's seen the posters at the theater. He's also seen the original movies. I'm fine with taking him. No matter how bad it sucks, if he has a good time, I'll have a good time.

I was already in high school, I think, when TMNT became popular, so I was a bit older than the target audience, and never was that interested in them.

The trailers for TMNT are absolutely atrocious, but that apparently had zero effect on its box office take. Michael Bay wins again. Yip-farking-pee.

Subtlety, good dialogue, and good acting are great, but realism in movies is overrated.

Or maybe people just like what they like and the things you enjoy don't define what's "good" in any meaningful way outside of yourself.

Saw it Friday with the family. It was fine. By no means a masterpiece, and my only real complaint was the lack of Casey Jones(And instead having whoever April's annoying assistant was).

Personally, i think what I liked most was how each turtle actually had their own personality, in how they were all different sizes, wore different clothes, and were very much teenagers.

Raph being just huge pleased me, while Donny being tall, but skinnier than the other four, also worked very well for me. I could hope this property continues if only for that.

And to my surprise, Megan Fox actually managed to be a halfway decent April O'Neil.

All in all, rating this among the other four movies, I'd put this one at a solid 2 (Warning: Poop jokes impending), behind the original live action, only just. Had it contained Casey, I'd have given it #1 spot.

Can I blame Bay for cars exploding into the force of a small warhead in every game?  Cause that shiat makes no sense and is annoying as hell.  Even the games that promise "tactical realism" have cars that explode with a larger blast radius than a frag grenade at the barest scratch of their paint.

It's not believable (although it's consistent within its own world), but GotG does have good dialog, good acting, and even some moments of subtlety and pathos. It's definitely a step or two above a typical action movie.

You're actually believing the hype of Hollywood, who say that a certain movie is #1 because SHUT UP AND GIVE US ALL OUR MONEY!

Remenber, they also used to say that Michael Jackson is the King of Pop, and that everyone really, realllly likes the New Coke.

Typical Fark whining about Michael Bay. He'll continue to make billions for the production company while you all whine from your mother's basement that "this is why we can't have nice things", and "too many explosions", Megan Fox sucks", "he's ruining my beloved childhood"blah blah blah

The only good thing to come from the whole TMNT thing was the animated Usagi Yojimbo stuff (owned by a different creator, in case you didn't know).
