Nice one subby, but it would have been better with some umlauts. Umlauts make everything funnier.

I don't know.  I imagine submitter sitting there with what he/she thinks is the perfect headline.  Waiting.  Waiting for the day that it can be used because it's topical.  "Hey what if VW has a recall...I know just the Fark headline for that".  That always makes me sad thinking of them waiting for the 5 minutes of Fark level fame which is a double depressant.

You usually do not see people 35+ driving VW's - other than 50-something women with ragtop Beetles... wonder why?

One of the first new cars I ever coveted was the VW Rabbit. I always give VW the benefit of the doubt.

Bingo.

It really is sad. I love how Audis and BMWs drive, but they are unreliable as f*ck and once they are out of warranty, the costs of simple repairs are insane. I didn't mention Mercedes because they've lacked any redeeming qualities for at least 25 years.

Ugggh.  I learned the hard way.  In 2011 after the earthquake in Japan, it was virtually impossible to find a good economy car.  I actually saw used cars going for more than new.  I was on a lot and they had a 2009 Honda Civic with 60,000 miles, 2 door, 5 speed manual and they wanted $19600.  A new one booked for $19400.  And there it was.  A 2009 Audi A3 with Leather.  Beautiful car and the mechanicals are just a VW GTI.  Same engine, chassis, transmission etc.  Drove like a dream.  It still is a thing of beauty.  It had 75,000 miles but hey that's nothing for that engine/transmission.  I got it for $14900 which was 7 or 8 grand under book.  I thought I got a steal.  See I drive 45 miles 1 way in the winter and this was a perfect car for that.  I can't have too little of a car but I want some economy with some winter handling.  Perfect fit.  Until.....oh.my.god.  What a freakin repair nightmare on the electronic gremlins.  It cannot make it between oil changes without some light or another coming on and twice i've been stranded with it.

Never again.

/maybe.

As a VW Salesperson, I'm getting a kick out of this headline.... I'm actually glad they're being proactive and taking care of the problem before something bad happens.

//// oh, nice one subby

The cost of repairs for most luxury brands are astronomical.

But at least with a Lexus, it happens way less often.
