A the SUV. For assholes who think they're too cool to just buy a minivan.

So even if a shiny new SUV gets 25 MPG instead of 15 MPG

That's a 40% cut in fuel and carbon, which is almost halfway to zero. It's much more important than stripping a 25 mpg car down to a 35 mpg hybrid.

We should switch to liters per 100 km to emphasize fuel consumption rather than range. Or acres; the dimensions work out. Fuel economy has the units of area. My car gets in the ballpark of 2.5x10^-14 acres.

I intentionally buy bad MPG vehicles. Nothing makes me happier than seeing the weak little dork looking guy in the Prius with his fat wife and ugly kids.

I'm always shocked at how little room there is in most SUVs. Visibility is poor, handling is poor.  I'd take a minivan any day.

You know, steam engines are very efficient........... Would be awesome if someone came out with a coal powered car just to be a jerk.

Dumped used motor oil in the woods at my old house too. Made me feel good. Earth is mine, not the other way around.

I have a minivan rather than an SUV but that's because I also have a little jeep that gets me to trailheads for backpacking that a sedan wouldn't get me too.  If I had to choose between a minivan or an SUV and I didn't have a jeep, I'd get the SUV.  But, I guess that's just me thinking like an asshole.

2014-08-09 11:48:51 AM
Mainly what I got out of this is that late October is an awesome time to buy a vehicle. Well, an SUV anyway, and I see no reason why that would not be generalizable.

2014-08-09 11:49:32 AM
Time to roll some coal!!

I agree, minivans are far more practical for the average soccer mom. SUVs have their place - in 4x mode, rumbling down gnarly dirt roads. As far as I'm concerned, a 2WD SUV is a waste of a good vehicle.

The most efficient small and midsize SUVs have a much higher combined fuel mileage rating than the most efficient minivans now, if you were going for the environmental angle. By several miles per gallon.

i bet you run your air conditioner with the windows open during the winter just so you can turn on the furnace later. i bet you buy things that can be recycled and throw them away just so more fuel can be used to transport it to a dump too. do you change your oil in your front yard with no drip pan too? just to stick it to the planet which has so wronged you too?

So even if a shiny new SUV gets 25 MPG instead of 15 MPG, it's still pretty bad compared to an electric car that doesn't even burn any gasoline

I wonder where the electric car gets its electricity from?

I don't even understand what you said.  I don't even think I can fill my gas tank in liters.   It was made in the US.

if a minivan could get me to the river by the route my suv does i'd trade them perhaps. but, ive never seen a minivan that can navigate in dirt and sand hills.

Most SUVs can't either.

Yes, since someone has a different opinion than you they are obviously trolling.

I personally think minivans and suvs both suck, but I am not going to try and negate people's statements I don't agree with by labeling them as trolls.

Most of those don't have 3rd rows and those that do are shiatty third rows.

I've got a number of vehicles... and it is kinda weird the different reactions I get from people simply based on what I'm driving while looking exactly the same each time with similar clothes.

In my Ram 1500 2WD, I'm a 'redneck.'
In my Ford Superduty 4WD, I'm an 'inbred redneck.'
In my Honda Accord which is my daily driver, I'm just invisible and not noticed.
In my old Scout II with 38" tires, I get mixed reactions from 'coolest thing ever' to 'wtf is that piece of shiat.'
In my '68 or '69 Z28s, I get anywhere from 'holy mother of god that car is sweeeeet' to 'hippy 70s throwback' to 'can't grow up.'

The two pickups and the Honda have specific uses for each, but the others are just toys. My wife's daily is an Enclave, and I like the new Buicks so much after she got it that I'm thinking of trading the Accord in for a Verano. That little car is sexy.

Had an SUV, will buy again.
