No no, I've seen this one. They catch the killer this way. "We never released to the press HOW she died". You're under arrest big-named star that we all know did it when we saw your name in the opening title.

investigators will be working through the weekend to collect DNA samples from residents of the Steele Creek Mobile Home Park and the surrounding neighborhood. So far, every person in the 103-unit community has complied voluntarily with the request, he said.

Wow, seriously? They'd need a court order and a tranquilizer dart to get a DNA sample from me, and that assuming I didn't do it.

Investigators are aware that Jenise's father has a criminal history, he said earlier this week, but they do not believe it has any connection with the girl's disappearance. [...] Two of Jenise's older siblings, an 8-year-old and a 12-year-old, were removed from the house by Child Protective Services on Monday.

Goddamn, you have to love CPS. "You had nothing to do with this, but we'll take your kids away anyway. It really amazes me CPS workers manage to remain amongst the living for more than a year or two.

Why is that WTF? The bastard killed her and then dumped her body in rough, muddy terrain, and would thus him- or herself been covered in mud. So if people in the area spotted anyone caked in mud, please call the cops.

He wasn't saying Swamp Thing killed the girl, Subby. The mud came from dumping the body.

Subby must do headlines for the NY Post.

I thought the subby was pointing out that after they said they wouldn't reveal how she died or when, then go on to reveal she was murdered over the past weekend.

Might have something to do with this:

Jenise was last seen around 10 p.m. last Saturday when she went to bed. Her parents noticed she was gone Sunday morning but were not alarmed because they allowed Jenise to wander freely around the mobile-home park, Wilson said. They told police she usually checked in every couple of hours.
Her parents began to worry, however, when she did not turn up by 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. They searched and went door to door looking for her for about an hour and a half before calling 911, according to the Sheriff's Office.

I imagine the attitude of most of the residents in the trailer park was that they were going to lynch whichever SOB refused to give DNA.  Plus, even if you didn't get lynched, you are going to stand the hell out to the investigators.  Plus, DNA testing takes time, and time gives you options, like to find a really good attorney or to make your escape.

I don't have a problem with it in a situation like this and it is "voluntary". Blood taken at a DWI checkpoint with a pre-written warrant is a different story.

This makes me ill, both the poor baby dying and the fact that mom and dad didn't notify anyone she was missing until 8:30 that night!!
Who in their right mind lets a 6 year old wander freely anywhere these days? If I got up and my kid wasn't around I wouldn't have a wait and see attitude.
RIP, I hope her last moments weren't filled with terror but I am afraid she died terribly.

It reminds of a trick a former employer used to pull. We had someone stealing money from the register so they put out a memo that everyone will be having a lie-detector test next week.

I was indignant. I went to him and said, "THIS IS BULLshiat! I'M NOT TAKING ANY farkING LIE DETECTOR TEST!"

He just smiled and said, "Relax, there isn't really going to be any lie detector test. This just a trick. Somebody will suddenly have to quit and the money stops disappearing."

So what you edited out of the middle of your quotation is of no interest to you and has no bearing whatsoever on CPS's decision?

Wright was charged in 2001 with two counts of child molestation for allegedly touching an 8-year-old girl and her 15-year-old baby-sitter inappropriately after a New Year's Eve celebration.
Wright pleaded guilty later that year to a misdemeanor assault charge related to the older girl and was given a one-year suspended sentence.

With a history like that, he must have one heck of a rock-solid alibi to not already be in a prison cell.

Yeah, there's being free-range and then there's not knowing where your six-year-old even is for the better part of twenty-four hours. I'm all for letting kids explore but these parents apparently made a habit of letting the girl wander for long periods of time. Combine that with a kid who (according to the articles) was very friendly and would trust anyone and it's a situation ripe for disaster. Taking the eight-year-old and twelve-year-old away would make sense if they were allowed to leave for similar periods of time. A twelve-year-old can take care of him or herself for a day, but an eight-year-old is pushing it, and neither should be living like that routinely.

I feel better knowing it wasn't the parents.  They better sue the shiat out of the police and child protective services for taking their other children away.
