What Liberman found, essentially, was that young men speak like old women

Though presumably with more swearing.

Where does "er" fit in?

And the graph seems to show that young men use "um" more than "uh" also. Both show generational discrepancies at least as well as gender.

Well, obviously.  The higher pressure of the Venusian atmosphere, and its general causticity, necessitate a vocal style where the mouth is closed for as much time as possible while speaking, while the low pressures and reduced oxygenation at the Martian surface encourages expressions where the lips remain open to induce freer gas flow.

// Still at least 50% more legit and scientific than "people who use these types of "discourse markers" are more empathetic and conscientious-two traits women are often thought to be socialized to exhibit", which is the dumbest line of complete bullshiat that I've read in my life, possibly.

It's simply guys. We say filler words more because we need to be careful. The opposite sex is ready to read between the lines when there is nothing to be read. Am I right?

Also:

This, Liberman notes, meshes with a 2013 study that analyzed women's and men's Facebook posts and found that men are most distinguished by their use of "fark," "wishes," and "xbox," while women stood out for words like "shopping," "excited," and "<3."

Wait a minute:  A phone conversation implies two people.

14,000 / 12,000 = ~1.2 people per phone call.

Now, I could understand, say 3,500 people and 14,000 phone conversations, because that works out:

14,000 / 3,500 = 4, which divides evenly into 2.

Now, obviously there are some calls where you leave a message (but that's not really a conversation), or there are ones where you have more than 2 people involved, but the the average should be in the neighborhood of 2.
