This.  Adding ham to a hamburger = brilliant.

I spent almost a whole week as a tourist in Washington DC eating nothing but Roy Rogers for almost all meals. I was about 8 and thought it was the best thing ever. Later I realized my mom and dad chose it because it was cheaper and less stressful alternative for eating with three kids hell bent on destruction.

/it was across the street from the hotel
//horseradish sauce ftw

Are there even any Roy Rogers left that aren't in Garden State Parkway rest stops?

The chain was bought out by one of its franchisees based out of Frederick, MD around 2000 or so. They closed most of the locations outside the DC area and returned it to its roots as a mostly local chain (it was originally started by the Marriott Corporation which has always been based here). The impression I get is that the chain is slowly expanding, but will probably never go back to being the nationwide chain it once was.

this,  I make a point to get one every time I visit my folks in MD.  I even worked at a Roy Rogers and I have never been able to find "white BBQ Sauce" anywhere that they use on those delicious sandwiches.

I hope those Double R Bar Burgers weren't made from Trigger.  (Happy trails to you....)

Do you remember Burger King once marketed a ham-and-cheese sandwich in the 1970s?
It was called "Yumbo", and it looked like the sandwich in your post minus the beef patty.
(Needless to say, "Yumbo" flopped.)

Wow - no I don't remember that - it's surprising that a standard ham & cheese sandwich would flop.  I guess at a Burger King that's not what people are craving.   Yet the fish sandwich does fine...

Wizards announce Roy Rogers will be new assistant coach, replace Gatorade with Double R Bar Burgers Sarsaparilla.

Replace beverage with beverage, I always say.

As someone traveling down the majority of the PA turnpike today, I hope they can still be found there.
