Okay, I don't get what went on there other than somebody said something racist, ADR heard about it and confronted him/her, something happens and ADR gets fired.

Except that "something happens" was ADR b*tch-slapping one of the WWE.com employees!

F**king STUPID! :-(

I mean yeah that's what is alleged...but I'm guessing no one will know what really happened.

He's got his money anyway, he'll go back to Mexico and make more money there.

Del Rio was apparently planning on leaving when his contract expired. Maybe he just decided to speed up the process using the back of his hand.

If he had merely complained, the other employee likely would have been shown the door. Instead he's fired and has possible civil suit and criminal charges approaching

With as many incidents happening around it, I'm surprised WWE Catering doesn't have its own show somewhere.

What's that you say? A wrestler slapped an interviewer?

Any excuse to post that clip is a good excuse

They saw an opportunity to shed his contract and went for it. Anything to save money right now, they even fired the timekeeper the other day. If this had happened last year he probably would've gotten an Orton type punishment i.e. go home and chill for a while.

They already got what they wanted out of him anyway - a Mexican guy to hold the title during the tour that one time and to induct Mil Mascaras. Wouldn't be surprised if Vince set this whole thing up. A screwjob, if you will

Heh, wow. I'm ok with this though. He's good but didn't seem too into it after his title run and was getting stale. Let him self-deport, he wants it, several of us want it, everyone wins.

/so if he was taped for tonight's SD! it will be his last time on our screens...

Also, kinda odd to me that the talent and .com writers interact. I could see an occasional meeting with creative, but the regular peons? This is a giant company, what is Of The River doing at 'the office' anyway unless on the way to see the boss? Just strange to me. *shrug*

cliffs note version, at catering, someone made a comment to another to clean his plate. Douchebag commented "that's Del Rio's job". Del Rio demanded an apology. Douchebag instead trollfaced him. Del Rio clocked him.

Now, as a bit of a hothead myself, I don't condone Del Rio's actions.. but I understand.

1)  They didn't future endeavor him.  2)  They reported on the circumstances of his release (which, given the nature of the incident could be a liability issue in a lawsuit) 3) they called him a pro-athlete and 4) they are still discussing it

Sounds like a work to me.

He's already been moved to the "Alumni" page of the website.. which is generally the official code. consider that even Punk wasn't moved there til a few of weeks ago (when his contract officially ended).

Not so sure about that.  They have a picture of Dean Ambrose in the Alumni section too:

I guess he used to have an 80's/90's gimmick that I missed.

Sounds like the wrong person got fired to me...

2014-08-08 08:08:51 PM
I think the most appropriate way to honor Del Rio's firing is to tell our favorite Ricardo Rodriguez stories.

2014-08-08 08:28:17 PM
Del Rio is a perfect example of the incompetent writing staff currently employed by the WWE.

He was supposed to be a wealthy Mexican aristocrat (subtext: arrogant cartel leader).  They had him drive expensive cars to the ring and hire his own ring announcer.  He got over with this gimmick.  Then, after he got over ... nothing.  If he was a super-rich corrupt heel, why wasn't he bribing ring officials to win matches?  Why wasn't he hiring lower-mid-card heels to interfere on his behalf to win matches?  Why weren't they filming vignettes of him driving those expensive cars through poor American neighborhoods running down the American way?

He was booked to be an upper-mid-carder, he hit the glass ceiling and now he gets to head back to Mexico to spend Vinnie Mac's money.  Good for him.

/I'm not even a big fan of the guy!

I'm no expert, but I've seen enough of these things to notice a couple of inconsistencies here.

- The WWE announcement of his firing did not use his real name, just his stage name

- The twitter comments on the matter

- This was apparently pasted all over wwe.com

I'd be willing to bet that you're getting worked here. Either this is a storyline involving Del Rio to put him back in the spotlight or the Del Rio character is gone, but he comes back as something else.

I wouldn't be surprised.  There's enough odd things about it that make it fishy.

..or it could be that since this is a racial incident, they're trying to get out in front of it. They're kinda sensitive about this stuff lately.
