Umbrella group Oil and Gas UK said it was taking steps to prepare for any European ruling, expected by the end of the year.

Sic the Red Queen upon them?

Make them run a timed fire drill for 'safety' or adjust the food on board in quantity or type such that they loose weight. Problem solved.

Now we're catering to self-inflicted health problems and putting these lardasses in dangerous situations?
I'm sitting at a Hampton Inn free breakfast buffet, and a guy two tables down is chowing down on two waffles and a stack of sausage patties. He's wider than the chair. He has no business on an oil rig.

For farks sake. Eating a large pizza as an appetizer is not a disability. How long til this shiat hits America.

Maybe the fat people will float when the constant helicopter crashes eventually kill all the skinny people

The potential change stems from the case of Karsten Kaltoft, a 25-stone childminder from Denmark who was sacked by a local authority.

Some 350-pound babysitter demanded to be taken back and forth to work in a helicopter?

Auto-correct on my phone does some weird stuff sometimes.

Not necessarily, maybe the idea is to convince the overweight to intentionally release some of their weight...

/(unzips abdomen, unhooks tiny little leashes holding the globs of fat in place) "Fly, my pretties, you are free now!"

I really want to be a firefighter for FDNY. I'm pushing 40, overweight, have diminished lung capacity from a nasty case of pneumonia when I was younger, and have high blood pressure. None of those things are MY fault, though. They shouldn't expect me to lose weight and put in the effort it would take to get myself into the kind of physical condition required to do the job (even if that were possible, which it probably isn't at this point). They're just discriminating against me because of my age and physical limitations! There's no reason they couldn't rig me up some kind of hoverround with a fire hose on it or something. They need to make special accommodations for me, even if it puts other firefighters at increased risk! Anything less is discrimination!! Oh, and I also want to be a fighter pilot. And a racehorse jockey. And a space cowboy. I demand that the government force employers to hire me, dammit!!

Doing something dumb that gets your leg blown off has always qualified as a disability. Why is this different?

Because obesity is easily fixed. I put on 10 pounds over the winter. So.....I started exercising more and started eating less. Problem solved. Lost 12 pounds so far. And for the people who say "it's more than calories in and calories out", it seems as though the forcing the obese to consume fewer calories through gastric bypass and banding works very well. Eat less and you'll lose weight
Having a leg blown off is a little more permanent.
