Rappers brag about shooting guns and committing crimes in their songs??

So in actuality they had already found several bullets,  talked to witnesses who saw him with a gun that matched the ammo,  raided his home,  found guns there,  then matched the bullets to those guns.

Then they found out about this rap which has no name of people, places, or things in it.  So really it barely has anything to do with this story and is just something a little extra that they can toss at the jury.

*yawn*

"I am shocked and appalled by the overt racism being displayed in the prosecution of this young man who is a victim of a racially motivated, oppressive society that forced him into a culture of crime, dope, murder and robbery.  There is no substan... what?  He did a rap "song" about killing dis motherf*cker and put it up on the web?  Seriously?  You're on your own, G."

Ah, yes. Urban "culture".

Lemme give you the basics.  Crime isn't culture.  It creates poverty and stacks up innocent bodies as the adherents of this "culture" try to out socio / psycho path each other in their utter disregard for human life and the general well being of society at large.

Bonus - Your "music" blows goats, ran out of new things to say 20 years ago and CD sales are down.  "I'm a murderer!  Please purchase my album!"  How did we actually manage to tippy toe around the very things we know in our bones to be reprehensible to the point where this became "culture"?  Hang the little c*nt.  Seriously.  Criminals don't even like each other.  Who's gonna miss him?

Semar McClain

TFA: ...the following lyrics: "get Semar slipping, walking through the alley, (expletive) tried to run like an athlete, but bullets catch (expletive), bullets run track meets, bullet hit the (expletive) head and he falls to his toes, he thinks he's (expletive) now he's getting exposed."
in my amateur law talkin, unless forensics comes up with something, everything in TFA is circumstantial.

"Investigators listened to the lyrics - and in this particular song, the complaint says Canady was heart to rap the following lyrics: "get Semar slipping, walking through the alley, (expletive) tried to run like an athlete, but bullets catch (expletive), bullets run track meets, bullet hit the (expletive) head and he falls to his toes, he thinks he's (expletive) now he's getting exposed.""

No names of people, except "Semar". No names of places, except "through the alley". No names of things except "bullets".

Am I right in guessing that if the rapper had been white, (expletive) would have been (racial slur)?

He was such a good boy....( some variation of this is always said about the perpetrator in these cases.)

Please see the post above yours for my apology for the dumb.

Although I will say that when i said names I was more thinking of specifics,  like actual names of stores,  streets,  people - like Semar =/

/will work on that reading comprehension thing I've heard about,  it seems nice.

Check this out - a different case, but still involving rap lyrics.

http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2014/03/02/rap-lyrics-on-trial-this -w eek-at-nj-supreme-court/

Skinner's cell phone was one of several found at the scene, but there was no other physical evidence linking him to the crime.
Prosecutors, however, were permitted to read the jury 13 pages of rap lyrics Skinner had written, replete with violent images such as, "I'm, the dude to shoot at ya' neck, shatter your life like a bottle of Becks."
 ....
All of these lyrics were written from months to years before the actual crime occurred. None of them mentioned the victim and none of them included details related to the crime."
Indeed, an appeals court ordered a new trial, finding it was the lyrics, not the evidence, that swayed the jury.

I can't find any followup on the Skinner case although admittedly I didn't look too hard.

Oh, thanks, PBS:

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/nj-supreme-court-strikes-convict io n-based-rap-lyrics/

The New Jersey State Supreme Court on Monday overturned, by a vote of 6-0, the attempted murder conviction of an aspiring rapper and small-time drug dealer Vonte Skinner, arguing that the extensive reading of Skinner's violent rap lyrics during his trial unfairly prejudiced the jury.

Maybe the rap song wasn't evidence enough to send him to prison, but a mighty good reason to send him there. The next Immortal Technique that guy is not.

Who the hell gets raised wrong? I wish people would STFU about "how they're raised." Only idiots and southerners talk about this shiat. It's either 1) bragging about how good a person you are or 2) making some excuse for your bullshiat redneck behavior and both times it's relinquishing all responsibility to your parents like you're some kind of robot and your parents are your perfect programmer.
