Dammit, I did not need that earworm today.

I've been debating on whether to buy the full soundtrack.. or just 'Cherry Bomb'.

good soundtrack.  songs I never thought twice about before but now, in the context of the movie, make me like them a lot.

having said that, why would a mother give her 8 year old son a mix tape with "Cherry Bomb" on it?

Because she's cool.

I have been unconsciously singing Come and Get Your Love all week. Like, incessantly. It's a real problem.

I just saw the movie yesterday, and the soundtrack...it makes sense. It was a device that foreshadowed a great deal, it was an integral part of film, its style, and it was an intrinsic device telling the story. And without spoilers, it is made more than clear why the soundtrack was chosen the way that it was. It also made it a damn lot of fun.

Hey, my daughter got healthy doses of Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies when she was young. You want to raise your kids understanding you, you share the music YOU love. For me, that means she knew the words to a LOT of Jimmy Buffet tunes when she was way too young to understand their full impact.

I'm looking forward to seeing what songs will be used in the sequel.

One suggestion: "Rolling with the Changes" by REO Speedwagon.

Also, if you can't love Chris Pratt enough, he admitted he stole the Star-Lord costume for the express reason to visit sick kids in hospitals.  That's incredible.

That is awesome....however when Make-a-Wish gets requests for Rocket and Groot things will get sticky.

If the album came with a god damn dancing [Spoiler Free] then I guarantee it would have sold #1 first week. And for the next 22 weeks.

I hope Awesome Mix Vol. 2 has Black Sabbath's Iron Man on it, although it may not be as light as the other songs.

Cherry Bomb don't fit the movie.  The rest worked well I thought.

Yeah, my dad raised me on Fleetwood Mac and Pink Floyd. I was halfway through puberty when I figured out how many of my favorite songs were about drugs or adultery.

Moonage Daydream is my favorite Bowie song, I'm glad it's getting exposed to a new audience.
It'll be interesting to see if this soundtrack has any influence on any future musicians.

I saw the other day that Sideshow Collectibles is releasing a non-dancing version.  Of course, it costs a few hundred dollars to get it as part of a set.

It was definitely used in an odd scene.   I would've used Spirit in the Sky there (did that actually even show up in the movie?)

I've lived long enough to remember when all the songs in the movie were popular hits, then were reviled
examples of schlock, and now they're cool again.

And you know what:  I'm good with that.

The theme to Dukes of Hazzard. Though your choice is fine.

Nope.  It's the only song on the soundtrack not to appear in the movie.  I wonder if there was a deleted scene with it.

I do like how the movie set up a way to have new classic music in the sequel without necessitating a return to Earth.

I sense a pattern w/the current top Billboard Albums.  Maybe something about the demographic...

#1:  Hypnotic Eye:  Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
#2:  The Breeze - An Appreciation Of JJ Cale:  Eric Clapton and Friends
#3:  Guardians Of The Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 Soundtrack
#4:  5 Seconds Of Summer:  5 Seconds Of Summer
#5:  The Shawn Mendes EP:  Shawn Mendes
#6:  Frozen Soundtrack

#10:  Kidz Bop 26
#13:  Now That's What I Call Music 50
#14:  Mandatory Fun:  "Weird Al" Yankovic

/I have no idea who Shawn Mendes or 5 Seconds of Summer are
//I can imagine a bunch of these 40-somethings buying Now That's What I Call Music to get an idea of "What these kids are listening to now."
///Full disclosure:  mid-40's, listens to Alt Nation on XM.  My brother, who's 2 years older, has no clue who any of the bands on there are.  Thinks I've got a bunch of post-apocalyptic soundtracks in my CD player.

I went to see it Thursday for a second and had the Annie trailer before the show. It struck me as an odd pairing. I also noticed that Starlord was apparently from somewhere in Missouri. The state flag was on display at the hospital desk

The local classic rock station played a bit of a new Mark Knopfler song on that JJ Cale tribute album this morning.  I have no idea who JJ Cale is, but what I heard sounded pretty good.

Granted, I tend to listen to such older music while driving to and from work; it's mostly symphonic metal or gothic metal albums from this year, on my own time.

Huh, I didn't notice that.  (checks your profile)  Osage Beach?  I was in that area last week, on vacation, and saw the movie in Lake Ozark.  Stayed at the Four Seasons.
