Really Sheriff's dept, they work better at 1000 feet.

If the sheriff's dept wanted to be on the road they really should have bought a truck.

That's unpossible.  Helicopters live in the air everyone knows.  Nice use of IRONCOLONIC tag.

There's nothing incredulous about the headline that would lend itself to disbelief, therefore the use of the 'actual headline' prefix seems superfluous.

In 2009 we had an ambulance in Mississippi crash into the (running) blades of one of our adult transport team helicopters as they were getting ready to lift. The brand new EMT thought he could get around the helicopter, and clipped the edge of the blade with the box, causing them to completely shatter and rendering the aircraft grounded.

The ironic thing is that the woman being airlifted that day had just survived an Air Evac helicopter crashing after it lost power at altitude, and had to execute an autogyrational landing.

Did it really just take over 30 posts until someone managed to point out the following?

Are you all hung over?

Subby: " Actual headline: Car crashes into sheriff's department helicopter"

ACTUAL HEADLINE"Car crashes into sheriff's department helicopters"

/Ironic tag is for not knowing the meaning of the word "actual."

A car crashed through a wall next to the jail and landed on its roof in a yard where the department's three helicopters are stored.

I initially read the "its" to refer to the jail, and thought the car somehow managed to land on the roof of the jail, and was wondering how the hell that could happen... (And, why they have a yard with 3 helicopters on the roof...)

I fail to see the irony.

Helicopters are not ALWAYS in the sky.  They do have to land and park.  In fact, they spend quite a bit more time on the ground than they do flying.  I would guess that there is a better chance of it getting into an accident there than in the sky anyway.

So while this surely will be a nightmare for the insurance companies, I fail to see how this is so damn strange to start with.

Even if they were always in a state of flight, there would be no irony... It might be odd or surprising to hear that a car managed to hit one, but it wouldn't be ironic... Unless perhaps the car belonged to the Department of Helicopter Safety, or something similar...

Of course, the fark Irony tag is only used correctly roughly 0.001% of the time... But, in this case, there's not even any fake "rain on your wedding day" type irony that I can detect... I think Subby just picked a tag at random...
