That wasn't even a very good joke.

this was only part one of the joke. there was supposed to be more. involving the show's producer holding a boom box playing "in your eyes" at the welcome home rally.

That's pretty standard wacky radio guy stuff. This is where ESPN draws the line?

Yeah, ESPN's suspension of Steven A Smith worked out real well for them, so it will be fun to see how this one plays out.

I think the suspension was a stunt by ESPN. At least now I know Dan Lebatard has a show on ESPN.

You should watch his Highly Questionable show on the Deuce. It's a mix of sports and pop culture and it's great. LeBatard, and co host Bomani Jones, know their sports, they are entertaining, and their interviews are awesome.  Athletes can be the most boring interviews ever, but LeBatard is great.  I watch this instead of PTI (I am sick of Kornheiser).

I love Dan, but I think people are missing two things.
One- while funny, this was also a tacky thing to do, and I don't blame ESPN for suspending him for this. This is bad publicity for them and they can't be seen approving of it.
Two- based on what he said on his radio show about it, I get the feeling people in this thread are a lot more upset about his suspension than he is.

Personally, I'm just mildly annoyed that now I won't have the show's podcasts to listen to today or Monday. They're part of my daily routine.

2014-08-08 02:16:06 AM
I listen to ESPN radio right up until Lebatard's show comes on. Enough with the stupid pet tricks, fake criticism of the show. I gave him a shot.

BASTA!

I'd suspend someone as well for such an egregious use of comic sans.

His father cracks me up.

The problem in my market is that he's up against Russo. Maddog is my favorite broadcaster so I don't get a whole lot of the bastahd, but enjoy it when I do.

Well, I think this is cumulative...this and irrevocably damaging the integrity of the Baseball Hall of Fame by letting the unwashed masses decide his vote...

/...got him suspended for as many work days as Ray Rice did for whatever he did to his wife.

Shouldn't the billboard been the other way around?  Maybe a picture of Lebron with the rings and a "You're welcome, Miami."

Just change the punctuation. "You're welcome." - LeBron

still don't know how miami fans (they exist, right?) could be upset after 4 straight finals appearances

Another reason to watch Fox Sports 1

2014-08-08 07:14:05 AM
So somehow Miami has come to believe they're the reason he has two championships as opposed him being the reason they have two? They truly are retarded down there. Maybe it's the salt air getting to their brain.

2014-08-08 07:18:18 AM
Or maybe they arranged for the "suspension" because it brought more attention to the show? You don't think the execs know what they're doing?

2014-08-08 07:23:13 AM
ESPN did this cuz they're afraid LeBron will stop talking to them over this.

What do you guys think?

I am a big fan of LeBastard, Papi, and Bomani.  Like Barkley they speak their minds and are honest with their audience.  This was worth the two days even if it wasnt all that funny.

Miami had championships before Lebron came to town, and he was only able to get rings himself after coming to Miami.

UNC_Samurai: Or maybe they arranged for the "suspension" because it brought more attention to the show? You don't think the execs know what they're doing?

They knew exactly what they were doing. Think about it. They "suspend" him for two days in a week where: The most interesting thing is Preseason Football and no huge news coming from the NBA or MLB that we didn't already know about from the ESPN "Insiders" two months ago. Not to mention the fact that Cowherd's been out all week, we've been at least a Mike short in the mornings most if not all week (I listen to B&T in the morning so I don't normally catch much of the Mikes), and both SVP and Rusillo are out. To anyone who doesn't know this story or care to know it they will just think Dan's on vacation like everyone else.

The lead story on ESPN.com right now is "Durant Deserves Time Off."

fark off, ESPN.

ESPN wouldn't want to tarnish their brand image of licking LeBrons balls for 24 hours a day, 365 days a year...

I guess this means ESPN will never have a Kenny Powers show.

THAT IS BECAUSE YOU AREN'T REALLY FROM CLEVELAND!!!1!
/End Snark

I have been trolling former co-workers and friends from Cleveland over the LeBron stuff.  You would think that I insulted their mother with their response to my tongue-in-cheek comments about the whole thing.  I guess people in Cleveland can't take a joke.  Which is strange considering all sports teams from Cleveland have been a joke for at least decade.

They don't care. LeBatard doesn't even care, he said it was a publicity stunt and now it's generating publicity, surprise surprise.

Just another excuse for LeBron, ESPN, and LeBatard hate on Fark.

When I saw headlines for this, I was excited to see what sort of tasteless and offensive "stunt" this was. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. "You're welcome, LeBron"? That's it?

I guess Mike Ryan doing that part of the bit is out the window.

As has been said in here the whole joke had been talked about for almost 2 weeks on the air so for ESPN to say they werent aware of it is BS or they dont listen to the show which is even funnier.
