their repeated defund attempts were pure political theater, just like their attempts to repeal the ACA. the GOP has no interest in actually governing.

there's the problem...

I just had this idea yesterday that, when Michelle Bachmann is out of congress this January, I could mock up some fake ACORN letterhead and send out a press release to a bunch of places declaring victory. I would do that, but I'm more of an idea man. I don't actually do things.

After voting 13 times to block funding to an anti-poverty organization that does not exist, House Republicans appear to be throwing in the towel.

Quitters. Bunch of RINOs.

Yet they are still violently thrusting at the location where the Benghazi chicken used to be as if they believe that if they thrust vigorously enough they can quantum fark a chicken from a dimension where what they imagine of Benghazi actually happened.

Statistically speaking, the water I'm drinking right now likely has trace molecules from a combusted, farked chicken.

At times, the language has banned funding to ACORN "or its subsidiaries," and at others "its subsidiaries or successors."

And never mind that this is actually unconstitutional and illegal...  For a group that claims to worship the Constitution like it was the Bible, they sure do like bills of attainder.

Many years ago one of the big wigs at the firm where I was working took his family on vacation to New Hampshire in his company car. While he was up there he hit a deer and called the office to make insurance/rental car arrangements. When he got back I had inserted into his mailbox a dummied up letter from "The Bambi Fund." "Every year hundreds of these magnificent creatures are struck by thoughtless motorists and left to suffer by the side of the road." The logo featured a cartoon deer with a black eye, bandages and a crutch.

He was not amused.

Say, that's pretty clever. If the Democrats ever again do anything campaign fundraisy-like, for all eternity, Republicans can accuse them of violating... something. That should dominate Fox News for a week or so each time.

I was thinking more like finding a democrat in congress to do an earmark for it or maybe someone in a federal agency to give it a grant. But I'm sure individual contributions to get the ball rolling can't hurt.

"Now that the Republicans have been forced by Obama to give in, it's time to get government funds flowing to ACORN again so we can steal another election in 2016," jeered one House Democratic aide

That comment pretty much guarantees a Fox Nation story about 'Democrats openly admitting stealing elections' and one or two "That's NOT FUNNY how DARE he joke about that!!!!" columns from one or two of the dumber pundits. Now let's sit back and see how many RWNJ journalists either fall for it or cynically pass it along as something other than a joke, knowing their readers will eat it up...

Interestingly enough they still have a web presence, maybe they should add a donation button:
http://www.acorn.org/

If they were to just get a couple of staffers back, they could throw out the occasional press release to keep the name alive and really torture the tea party folks with their continued existence.

He shouldn't have been taking the company car for an out of state personal trip.

In the event of the accident, he could really get screwed by the insurance companies.  Nevermind the additional liability the company is exposed to.

Their real crime was helping poor people register to vote. That's when the right wing decided ACORN had to go.

Really? If the company provides you with a car, you are usually expected to use it as your personal vehicle as well. I have never seen a contract where an employee is provided a car and cannot do so.

No, you're expected to drive it for work purposes.

Why would the company want to assume legal liability if you get in a wreck three states away from your work place?

This happened twice at a company I worked for.  In one situation, the guy was on a family trip and got in a wreck, no his fault (mostly).  Both the company insurance and his personal insurance said they weren't covering it and it was on him; the company's carrier because he was driving for non-work purposes and his personal policy because he was in a commercial vehicle (ford f-150) listed on the company's policy.   In the other situation, an employee was going to Atlantic City with his whore of a girlfriend and he got in a wreck, his fault.  Guess who got sued (it wasn't him)?
