Girls in my high school wore body suits. Also, tights back then were the same as yoga pants are now. In retrospect, I have no complaints about the girls in high school...except maybe the hair. They all wanted to look like the Go Gos, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper and Boy George.

Still waiting for the unblurred photo to see if this is semi-justified handwringing or completely unjustified hand-wringing.  Probably the latter.   Yes, American Apparel ads feature very young-looking ladies with the bad lighting of amateur porn and the slight sheen of sweat on their skin of "proof of life" photos mailed by a kidnapper to his captive's wealthy parents, but they do tend to be people who actually work for the company in a not-just-modelling capacity rather than full-time pro models, so they got that whole "not fake and plastic looking" thing going for them.  Still not gonna buy any of their overpriced Old Navy knockoffs, but their ads sure were pleasant to look at when I came across them in The Onion back when that still had a print edition.

...

Let me rephrase that.   When I turned the page of the Onion's former print edition and just happened to glance at an American Apparel ad.   Never got as far as coming across them.   Not quite fap-worthy, but long-lingering-look-worthy at least.

Looking at the various American Apparel ads I find it interesting that they don't seem to photoshop their models. Or maybe they do but it's very lightly. They have bags under their eyes, blemishes, armpit stubble, etc.

I remember those ads...those actually made me squirm a little.  The American Apparel stuff just looks more slutty to me. I think you "kiddie pron shot in his basement" description is spot on - it looked like the start of a shoot where is was trying to get them to go full out pron.

It made a young Kate Moss a star, though.

2014-08-07 11:23:25 AM
Apparently the Daily Mail and I disagree on the definition of porn. To them, it's a picture of a model in a short skirt. To me it is something that looks like (traditional) two hedgehogs fighting over a Lincolnshire sausage / (modern) tight closeups of unidentifiable bits of shaved flesh bouncing around.

So it is. And the unblurred pic isn't a very good pic. Blatantly salacious and otherwise not terribly interesting. The Calvin Klein pics above seem far better composed.

They must make decent clothes though, in past AA scandals it was never very difficult to find feminists who were all torn up about this, upset with the pics while still talking about how no one makes clothes that fit like AA does.

sharphead: BeerBear: sharphead: Sorry, but if your looking for Schoolgirl Porn then i've found the link for you.  I guess a girl bending over a car door passes for porn in the mainstream now a days.

How is this different from the g-strings for 6 year olds?  Now that's kinda icky.. Miniskirts on teenagers?  Oh the humanity.

huh? AA made g-strings for 6 year old? WTH?

My apologies... it was Abercrombie and Finch who did it first I guess, they are marketing them to 10 year olds, but kids as young as 7 can wear them I guess.  Still creepy - what clothes would kids wear that would honestly need underwear that doesn't show pany lines?

That's just so wrong

I really do not have an issue with the ads even if the models are underage. It might offend some people, but it is not a crime to film/shoot pictures of a model under the age of 18 as long as she/he is not committing a sexual act. Too me I just admire their youthful beauty.

Nothing wrong with beautiful teenagers wearing little clothing. We're all supposed to be naked anyway if we just followed Mother Nature's natural way of life.

Stop being offended by sexy teenagers. Just because you get a boner (or get moist) looking at them doesn't make you evil. What makes you evil is if you actually rape them. If you just fantasize, then it's all good.

Not enough to make a proper determination... I think you need to provide several more links, for study.

Seriously, people think these models are underage?

American Apparel has been doing this for sometime, and clearly it works

Look at this NSFW ad by them for instance

It's truly NSFW, you have been warned

I was in grade school in the 1960's and our skirts were short! In the 1970's they were short too!

Check out an episode of "The Brady Bunch" for skirt length that was noncontroversial at the time.

The idea that short skirts are obscene because it's possible that some pervert  will find them enticing is just sickening. Maybe the morals police would like girls and women to wear burkkas?

I swear we are reentering the dark ages.

natazha: saturn badger: When I was in HS it seemed like there was a contest of who could wear the shortest skits/dresses. Good times were had.

In my day, we had micro-skirts. I remember some that were more belt than skirt.

We must be close to the same age.

We used to sit by "our tree" in HS and shoot the breeze. One day we were all fixated in one direction. One of the chicks was leaning against the wall and showing off her probably unknown to her "parts." The dean happened by and noticed. He glanced at her and over at us and the look was "carry on." He kept walking and we kept looking.

In art class you always sat with the window at your back. Always.

The chick? She went on to be a model. Had a similar experience with her in a dress and back light. We were all nudging each other and nodding in her direction.

I could go one but I don't want to excite the masses here.

Yep. A good time to grow up. Yoga pants are yawn to what we experienced.
