They're regular miniskirts, not even the least bit risque - the only thing lewd is the ad itself.

pretty much this. i was in high school in the 80's and miniskirts on girls was very normal.

/oh, to go back in time and introduce yoga pants.  much sexier than miniskirts.

Girls in my high school wore body suits. Also, tights back then were the same as yoga pants are now. In retrospect, I have no complaints about the girls in high school...except maybe the hair. They all wanted to look like the Go Gos, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper and Boy George.

I used to work at Prudential and even blurred out those pics would be enough to get you a write up if someone saw it on your machine.

those are miniskirts? seen girls wear shorter ones and my school never did anything about it

That's no more risque than what I currently see the average person that age wearing.

And it's far better than plastering PINK all across an 11yo's ass

If someone wants to wear a miniskirt, that's their business. The ad, however, is not one I'd like to see in a publication.

2014-08-07 09:17:20 AM
I'm forever grateful to the Daily Mail for pointing out that some business push porn in order to sell things. More on page 3.

There is nothing the Daily Wail likes better than publishing questionable pictures of young girls under the fig-leaf of hand-wringing concern. It's so well known there's a term for it - "mailbait".

2014-08-07 09:17:40 AM
Evidently, they've been taking this approach for some time.  Here is a SFW example

Well, yeah okay I see why people are upset. At least they didn't have her wearing skin colored or something so tight it showed camel toe.

But I'm gonna say the parents need to speak with their dollars and don't let their horny snowflakes buy the stuff if it's really that outrageous.

Still waiting for the unblurred photo to see if this is semi-justified handwringing or completely unjustified hand-wringing.  Probably the latter.   Yes, American Apparel ads feature very young-looking ladies with the bad lighting of amateur porn and the slight sheen of sweat on their skin of "proof of life" photos mailed by a kidnapper to his captive's wealthy parents, but they do tend to be people who actually work for the company in a not-just-modelling capacity rather than full-time pro models, so they got that whole "not fake and plastic looking" thing going for them.  Still not gonna buy any of their overpriced Old Navy knockoffs, but their ads sure were pleasant to look at when I came across them in The Onion back when that still had a print edition.

...

Let me rephrase that.   When I turned the page of the Onion's former print edition and just happened to glance at an American Apparel ad.   Never got as far as coming across them.   Not quite fap-worthy, but long-lingering-look-worthy at least.
