The guy will try to sue sure and he'll end up losing far more than a fone IF he can even find a lawyer who'll take it

Yes, you're correct

/but that would make an even lamer joke

FTA: Eventually, the guy with the cell was warned from the stage. But, it continued - until Frampton, in his own words, was forced to "relieve himself on someone, in the front row, of their phone/camera."

Okay, now that would be a story. As it is, there was a story a few years back about Harry Connick Jr. doing this, though I think he conned ("connicked"?) the offender into handing him the cellphone before throwing it into the wings.

Yeah, good luck with that.

Nice. I gotta say Frampton seems to be enjoying his ' Elder Statesman' status, and he wears it quite well.

Old Man Frampton should try searching his own name on YouTube sometime.

He might become less enraged about a guy in the audience with a moving-picture camera.

Can he sing Sweet Caroline?  I know the Red Sox need a picture so he could be a double threat.

Taking pics or cellphone video seems like one of those things that's fashionable to hate, just because...

I'm a musician who has been recorded and photographed numerous times over the years and I take it as a compliment that someone likes what I'm doing enough to want a record of it. As long as there isn't a flash going off in my face or someone's jamming the camera right in my face, I'm fine with it. Hell, I'll even mug for the camera.

Taking a video or some photos at one of my gigs doesn't even rank on the annoyance scale.

2014-08-07 11:42:14 AM
It's goddammed distracting trying to watch a show with all the phones sticking up in the air in front of me.  No one is going to want to watch your stupid sideways video ever.  Never ever.  How about you put down the phone and, oh, I don't know, watch the show.  Get off of my lawn while you're at it.  Assholes.

2014-08-07 11:57:57 AM
was at a nick cave concert, he just said to someone with a cell phone, put the phone down.  i'm right here.  (or something).

/ i'll never understand the desire to phone a concert.  your pictures/videos will suck because the camera and mic both suck.  so, you're wasting your experience for a record that's not worth watching.
// but, if that makes you happy, good for you.  people probably make fun of me because i don't dance at concerts, or whatever, and I'd probably rather be sitting, because standing is for the dogs.
/// i stood up at the nick cave concert.  the wife wanted to be front and center, and I wasn't about to lose her to nick cave.

Peter Frampton should just be happy there are still people alive who give a fark who Peter Frampton is.

All of that warrants having the guy kicked out of the venue. What Frampton did was inappropriate, and possibly a crime.

A small claims court filing would certainly see Frampton put on the hook for replacement of the phone.

Nowhere on the ticket does it say that your phone will be destroyed, if you try to video tape the show.

2014-08-07 12:07:41 PM
This guy was an ass for 1) not stopping when asked to stop videotaping the show  2) thinking it would be cool to videotape a Peter Frampton show. 3) paying money to see a Peter Frampton show.

How so? I've never heard anything bad about him. Saw him on tour last year and it was a great show.

Maybe this is why Frampton hates cellphones? Or the people that use them in his vicinity?

The Imelda May show I was at Saturday was the first I had been to in a while, so it struck me when they asked not to take pictures or record. For the most part I didn't, but there was no way I was leaving without a couple of shots.

2014-08-07 01:31:00 PM
Back in the long-ago days before phones were video cameras, I was at a Mojo Nixon show, and Mojo saw some guy in the audience talking on his phone.  He asked the guy to hand him the phone, and proceeded to tell the person on the other end, "Come on down to the show, we're all having a great time, we got a lot more songs to play, so come on down, cos if you don't, I'm gonna f**k your friend in the ass."  He then handed the phone back to the guy and said, "You should know better than to hand me a cell phone!"

Awesome, if true.  Farktards that can't put down their damn phones have become one of the worst things about going to shows nowadays.  We need Alamo Drafthouse rules for concerts.

That was the "interactive part of the show."
I don't know what the disclaimer said, but it may have mentioned confiscation.  It's like an armed robber suing a shopkeeper who took his gun away from him during a robbery.

it's not fashionable to hate "just because". When I go to a gig, I don't want to be standing behind someone filming, showing me a screen of what's also on stage in front of the actual band. And it's not so they can watch it again, it's just so they can get bragging rights like the assholes that film paintings in the Louvre.

Take a couple of photos of the band as they come on the stage if you must. That seems like a reasonable thing. Get your photos over, get your bragging rights, then put the farking thing away and enjoy the show.
