He was definitely apologetic.  And even if he wasn't, the fans can't get too mad at him or he will order his Hawkmen to attack.

He hit a star!  Retaliate!  Retaliate!

The Yankees are used to seeing Joba with no control.  That's why he's no longer with them.

Apologizing is not a part of the Unwritten Rules.  He obviously doesn't understand the Warrior's Code.  Something, something, bean Cabrera.

Am I doing it right?

That and he got mouthy with Rivera that one time.

Jeter should be happy that Joba didn't attack him with a swarm of gnats.

These farking hipster/lumberjack beards piss me the fark OFF. I keep expecting birds to be nesting in them. What is the attraction to them? Goatee's, trimmed beards are fine, but these... these... NESTS make no sense to me. It's like any guy who grows one is saying, "Stay away ladies!"

Joba said in an interview it's not a fashion statement - it's just a reflection of his extreme laziness when it comes to shaving.  I wish I were making this up.

What species of bird made it's nest on Joba's face?

That's the only reason I grow a beard in the winter. It's too hot in the summer, so it goes then though.

That was class on both player's part.  I wish that sort of thing would happen more often (not the hit Jeter part, well maybe).  It surely beats the chest thumping, mock attacks, actual attacks, and other pissing contest idiocy that usually follows a hit batsman episode.

Wainwright hit Longoria last week and you see Wainwright mouth the words "sorry Evan".  Evan just nodded and took his base.

Love that movie. I don't care how accurate it is. I base everything I know about Japanese baseball from it.

I just want to give Joba a bat and see if he can hit a ball. No one else can this week....

I don't care one way or the other about the look, but can't help thinking it would be extremely uncomfortable, standing out in the hot sun for hours on end with that.

Jeter's a bi-racial angel

2014-08-07 05:01:52 PM
I don't know if it was because he hit Jeter or because he hit Jeter in a tie ball game and put the potential winning runner on base, but Joba almost looked like he was going to cry for a good 2 minutes after he hit him....guy seemed to take it WAY too hard.

/was cool to see both the apology and Jeter's acknowledgement of and his reassurance that there was no animosity (or at least beyond "fark that hurt!")

2014-08-07 05:12:38 PM
Jeter needs to be more old school like Kyle Seager.

2014-08-07 05:20:37 PM
Clearly Joba mistook Jeter for Youkilis.

2014-08-07 05:23:29 PM
Bigger story is that the Yankees took 3 of 4 from the Tigers against Scherzer, Verlander and Porcello (and lost the Price game in extras).

Well legend goes that the first time Jeter faces an ex-teammate on the mound, he'll give him a subtle nod. Joba said before the game that if Jeter nods at him, he'd stick his tongue out.. which he did. That he plunked him after probably ruined "the moment" for him.

A blown late lead away from a sweep against Detroit, sheeeeeeit.  Now watch them lose a series to Cleveland.

For all the talk the Tigers cy young pitchers get, I believe the mariners dominate in a lot of the pitching stats, just you know they also dominate the bottom in all the farking hitting stats...

Sooo...is that the last time Jeter gets hit in his career?  I always wonder about famous players in their last few games.  The urge must be huge for the pitcher to plunk them, just to be in the record books as the last pitcher to bean them.

That would be typical, yeah.

I'm just happy that the Yankees are still in the hunt with 80% of its starting pitching in the hospital.
