That is so farking ignroant that my head exploded at only the second plate which was banned - KAFER.

The word, which by the way would NOT be offensive to muslims as it is chiefly USED by Muslims to describe non-Muslims (consider it the the equivalent of GOY to a Jew) is KAFIR you farking idjits.  Anyone stupid enough to use Urban Dictionary as a reference source should be summarily fired, taken out back, and flogged.

Sorry, I promise that will be my only language/word rage meltdown today.  I'm spent.

I live in Washington, and when I was in junior high, I saw a vanity plate that said "QUEEF".

/YRLY.
//Wonder if the employee at the dept. of licensing had no clue or just didn't care.
///Also wonder how long that plate lasted.

I take it, then, that I'm not getting my "MUNG" vanity plate, then.

I would guess that the 6669 plate was a reference to Ministry's Psalm 69.

I saw one in Seattle a couple weeks ago that said ANU5241.  If it was intentional, it's brilliant.  If it was accidental, that's pretty great too.

Vermont and NH seem to have a more vanity plates than any state I have noticed.

Is it free to get vanity plates there or are people just more expressive.

/the only vanity plates I have ever considered getting were "DBOON" and "MWATT"

Here's the thing... Kafer, as spelled, does mean "beetle" in German. Also Afrikaans. It's basically equivalent to the N word in South Africa, and was an especially popular term with the guys wielding sjamboks to beat down the masses. I think it may have even been used once or twice in a Neill Blomkamp movie.

The caption in the article was definitely the result of poor research.

Alaska has a ton of them as well.  $50.00 one time fee, and unless the requested plate is straight profanity no one cares what you put on it. (limited to 6 characters though)

Here is the one I got for my commuter car last year just to p*ss off my fundie Xtian neighbors. (inspired by a Fark thread even!)

Back in the 80s, my mom got a personalized license plate for her new Honda Prelude with her first name and initial of her last name.  The plate reads as "MARYJ"  I'm not sure that she could get that plate today but I snagged the rear plate when she sold the car to hang in my garage.

AAA 1111 is the current WA license plate pattern and I don't think you're allowed to get a vanity plate with that pattern, so yeah, it was probably an accident.

You'll have to explain that one. I'm sort of a Linux noob, having only used Ubuntu for the last 10 years or so. What are dependencies?
