Apparently Ender was playing a mobile app.

I wonder if they will submit a forget request to themselves to have all references to it removed from their search engine?

So someone complained about a TOS violation and they removed the offending game.  What's the story here exactly?

This offensive thing exists, so lets give it free publicity, because OUTRAGE!

2014-08-07 10:00:05 AM
I actually think that is a great game. Remind people that actually bombing people is horrible.

2014-08-07 10:55:12 AM
Yeah, they also removed that Borat hit single Throw the Jew Down the Well .

That we speak English in America, what is it with this incorrect plural verb crap? "Google remove"!? Well la de da King George.

Isn't "Google" plural?  Like, really, really plural?

Given so many people with no actual stake in this act like they're watching their favorite sports team I'm not really surprised to see folks turning it into a computer game. It's all entertainment, right?

Huh...  Well...  That's the way it goes, I guess.

Play is an excellent resource for developers.  I know.  I have a few apps there myself.  (end plug).

They handle everything from protecting the app from piracy, version tracking, updates, plus user and device stats.  Not to mention that because it's a trusted source, almost everyone with an Android can easily find and install your app.  Plus, they check it for integrity before they'll even allow it to be posted, to make sure it's free of viruses.
You can install an Android app from literally anywhere, regardless of Play.  But almost no one ever does this unless they are a devloper themselves and are testing their own app.  You never know what they hell you're getting from an untrusted source.

In short, if you are an app developer, it's pretty much essential that you can get your app approved and hosted by Play.

So, yeah, this is a pretty big deal for the developer.  Because they may have just gotten screwed out of some pretty serious potential income.  They really should have done some market searching first to make sure their app wouldn't be reported as offensive.  They really shot themselves in the foot.

Barney Stinson had the right idea...Gaza strippers.

i wonder what kind of whining the world would hear if someone released a game called 'Bomb Israel'.

From the news coverage, I didn't think ANYONE had a problem with the idea.

A gaggle of Googles.

I cannot accept "Google remove game" This just looks stupid.

Still perfectly fine for MLP in the episode where colonist ponies raise an orchard on ground important to the buffalo. It might look like whites vs indians, but it's really about jews and palestinians.

2014-08-07 11:17:48 AM
Google clearly hates Israel...

2014-08-07 11:18:28 AM
At least my game, "Rocket Attack on the big-nosed Zionist child eater's hospital" is still available!

I will also soon be releasing "IED Expert: Afghanistan edition" - an incredible simulation of life as an insurgent, fighting the pig-dogs of the western satanic states.

Probably less whining.

From another article

"It is based on avoiding killing civilians," Roman Shapiro, the developer said in an email exchange. "As usual, Jews are demonised by everyone. Not surprised. F**k them all."

For some reason people get real sensitive about Gaza and Israel.

Now I want to download it.

2014-08-07 11:23:59 AM
I saw it for a few hours as a download as a Top Rated game.

They should stop selling Axis and Allies.

2014-08-07 11:25:45 AM
So when will the other million games with violence in them be taken down?

2014-08-07 11:26:44 AM
So when a crazy gunman goes on a rampage in Israel, and the gunman takes a child hostage and starts shooting at innocent citizens from behind said child, while using the child as a human shield, do they just bomb the ever-loving fark out of the both of them?

2014-08-07 11:28:20 AM
My favorite level in an FPS was that airport level in Call of Duty where you shoot security guards and unarmed civilians.

Boo_Guy: So when will the other million games with violence in them be taken down?

If enough people complain, yes.  I would imagine so.  The Israel/Arab thing is only one of many conflicts in the world, but it spins people out of control pronto.  And is angers the right sort of people (affluent) to boot, which magnifies the phenomenon.

That's how I feel about my game thas was a bit like Angry Birds, but with airplanes and buildings. I don't know why it was removed, 9 out of 11 people loved it.

At least the purpose is to avoid killing any non-combatants, which is more than Israel has managed to do. In their defense, though, Hamas does hide its targets in among the innocents.

Not sure what you mean here?  Does that mean you like it or not?
I say right there on the information page, that it's been done before.  But my thinking is, "Why shouldn't I have my own, dammit?!"

For what it's worth, I did exactly zero research before I built that thing.  I had the idea, and I went with it.
As of right now, it's moving up to be my most popular app!!  So, I'm happy as hell about that.

I don't know.  I remember when that game first came out.  My first thought was, "this game has been done a million times before."  I really don't know why that one became such a huge hit.  But, really, that is an OLD game model.  All they did was come up with an amusing set of characters.
But, whatever...  The internet lottery is the internet lottery.

I mean the only thing more obnoxious than people holding up cell phones at concerts is people holding up a candle app on a cell phone at a concert. But I genuinely wish you the best of luck making apps and all that.

Once the gunman does this, the police officer (or 'good guy with a gun') standing nearby has pretty much lost the ability to completely prevent civilian casualties. Odds are, innocent people are going to die. The police officer has to judge whether they'd save more lives by letting the gunman continue shooting, or by shooting at him.

The moral responsibility for those deaths is entirely on the gunman, not the police officer.

I could see a good concept in that game. High scores for avoiding civilians and hospitals. Or hitting them. You decide.

Yes, because their negotiators and snipers suck worse than their special forces. Bombing is the only answer.

Good show.  Sorry I missed it the first time.
