Where does "being a normal functioning mammal with normal functioning mammal desires" stop and "sex addiction" start?

I feel the term has been wildly over-used.

But on the other hand I am thankful for it as a cop-out.

"But that was the sex addiction talking honey, it don't count when you're sex addicted!"

I've always liked the definition that it becomes addiction when it interferes with your ability to hold a job or keep friends.

Of course if you can't hold a job or keep friends for other reasons....

"In the new study, researchers looked at sex addiction among heterosexual women who regularly used internet pornography, reports the scientific journal Cyberpsychology, Behavior and Social Networking."

Both women were studied thoroughly.

For my sake, I hope you're right.

the paper is freely available:
Cybersex Addiction in Heterosexual Female Users of Internet Pornography Can Be Explained by Gratification Hypothesis
http://online.liebertpub.com/doi/abs/10.1089/cyber.2013.0396

I only skimmed it and it may not make sense. I don't think it actually says what constitutes an addiction and why that may be a problem.

It starts off mentioning that porn loving women mostly prefer words:

Studies have demonstrated that women use cybersex less than males and report a clear preference for females using chatrooms for sexual purpose, while males watch pornography more frequently.

Then the authors run an experiment consisting of showing dirty pictures to women and asking how arousing they were:

At least I learned a new word - "tribadism" (NSFW If you GIS it).
