Everybody bags on Reloaded, but I still maintain everything from Neo's fight with the Merovingian's goons through to the end of the freeway chase is some of the best action cinema in decades.

Everything is better with 8-bit noises. I'd happily go through daily life with 8-bit audio.

Who're the bigger retards, the guys in the fight, or the guys who wrote this drivel?

*shrugs* You've got me.  I've never seen the sequels, yet I still smiled at the 8-bit sounds.

Its not better, but it is a different sort of terrible.

Okay, I thoroughly enjoyed that, but it was the slowed-down Mario jump sounds at 2:16 that really gave me the lulz. Thanks subby.

Revolutions was terrible. And still an uptick from Reloaded. But it still didn't make Reloaded better.

/There is only one Matrix movie.
//I wonder why they never made a sequel.

I say again, I liked Reloaded.

Revolutions was vile.

Reloaded was really enjoyable, the highway chase scene is still one of my favorite action set-pieces, and the many agent smith fight in the middle was fun, even if the CGI was really obvious (though a movie set basically in a computer allows me to suspend my disbelief a bit more).

Revolutions was okay, it had its moments, I remember there were times I was genuinely on the edge of my seat, and the final Neo/Smith fight was fun if only because I was still young enough that DragonballZ was still fresh in my mind, and it was basically a big screen version of an Anime fight.  But overall it was by far the weakest of the three movies.

I stand by Reloaded being a really enjoyable, fun movie though.

Sweet, thanks for the tip.

I tend to go for the oldies (just finished Yambao, yeesh), but it's always nice to find a decent modern film. My fave (modern) is probably Jurassic Park, which coincidentally features Weird Al in the riffing booth. Highly recommend to everyone, plus it's an awesome movie anyway.

I never saw The Matrix sequels.

I looked at the release hype and thought, "Nope."

I regret nothing.

A couple good check-your-brain scenes do not a movie make.

YUP. I like the whole trilogy.

Reloaded's major flaw was the Zion scenes. The rest of the movie was an action masterpiece interwoven with some interesting philosophical elements.

I thought Reloaded was enjoyable when I saw it in the theater. It just had its head a little too far up its own ass with the philosophy class pseudo-intellectual posturing, especially the Architect's seemingly endless speech.

Revolutions, though, was a complete let down.

You're not supposed to like the architect.

I suspect that the idea is that the bullets themselves are part of the matrix directly and therefore easy to manipulate by "the one", while the "people" themselves are self aware and cannot therefore be directly controlled by "the one".

I saw reloaded again the other week, and boy does the Neo vs Agent Smiths fight not hold up well.  I swear for some shots they didn't even bother putting Hugo Weaving's face onto some of the Smiths. The CGI was just poor.  The wirework fights on the other hand are still pretty awesome.

Yeah. If someone told me that there was a version made of Mule Variations in 8bit Nintendo-type sounds I wouldn't be that interested. But listening to it, it's great.

Many of the action scenes in The Matrix Reloaded were entertaining for several minutes. Unfortunately, all of them ran for several minutes longer than that.

I'll still stick with the 'There was just one Matrix movie' belief.

Some of the Zion scenes were alright and really added to the story. That kid, though, was awful. I was really enjoying the movie until he came on.

It was shot for shot remake of Return of the Jedi.

I just googled that theory, and that is some tenuous synchronicity there boy.

on the level of:
Matrix: hero fights bad guy
ROTJ: hero fights bad guy

I don't remember that scene at all, but watching it just now, all I can think is how lousy of a shot those people were that those bullets were spread so far horizontally in front of Neo.

Something that has bugged me about the original Matrix for years:

Somewhere there is an image of a storyboard from the original film showing someone (I think it's Smith) punching superfast. It's a very specific visual thing that is not unusual in comic books. But if you were someone with only a very superficial knowledge of comic books or even of what very fast machinery looks like operating in real life, you might animate that as though the dude had a lot of arms.

Which is exactly what they did. They animated him as though he had five or six arms and none of them moving particularly fast or hitting particularly hard. If you look at it in the movie and realize what it was supposed to be, it looks dumb as hell. They made a movie based on images they didn't even understand, and at no point did anybody think of a better way to express rapid movement than that dumb, floaty arm shiat.

And yet the creators were sole controllers of nearly every aspect, frame, and element of the movie - storyboard to finished product..  So yes, that's exactly the way they intended to show it.

Now, if you want to debate whether that was a good choice, ok.  But that's the way it was envisioned.

I believe the actual number is closer to 48.24%. That's just an approximation, however.

The problem I had with the sequels is that they dumped Neo's place at the end of the first movie.  He was Superman inside the Matrix, and he was going to show people a world without the Matrix.  I'd still like to see the continuation of that story,   What we got was something else entirely, and not something good.  What's the point of all the fighting if we know Neo can just fly away any time he feels like it?
