(Change.org)   Some farker wants Weird Al to be the halftime show for Super Bowl XLIX. I'm weirdly okay with this   ( change.org) divider line

Shut up and Take My Money!

2014-08-06 03:40:13 PM
I would actually watch the halftime show then..

Think about this.

Weird Al, has been in the music business longer then just about anyone I can think of off the top of my head.

He writes and performs his own music, and sings.

He has outlasted just about everyone he has made a parody song of.

Also he is a pretty cool guy in person from what everyone says.

2014-08-06 03:43:28 PM
It's not going to happen, but I'd watch.

2014-08-06 03:47:10 PM
Count me in.  Just want to see the reactions of the music moguls of "those other acts" when this particular HT show is the highest rated in SB history.

2014-08-06 03:53:51 PM
Can we set up a kickstarter for him to do a nip slip?

He also just had a #1 album on Billboard, for the first time in his career, so it's good timing.  However, I'm not sure a redneck football crowd is the right target for his brand of wit - not that all football fans are redneck, but a significant portion seem to be.

Yo, Weird Al, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Prince had the best Super Bowl Half Time show of all time. OF ALL TIME.

/I'd like to see this.

2014-08-06 04:15:13 PM
As long as he does Sports Song with a marching band, I'm okay with this.

Hell. Yes.

How long do we have left until Super Bowl XLAX?

They Might Be Giants could open for him.

How many rednecks do you know who listen to Rihanna and Bruno Mars?

Uh......

He has done a great deal of original music over his career. While his albums are primarily parodies, every one I ever owned contained some great original work, too. Just off the top of my head, "Dare to be Stupid," the theme to "Johnny Dangerously" ("This Is the Life"), and of course the greatest Cold War Christmas song of all time, "Christmas at Ground Zero."

Yes, most of his work consists of parodies but he does include originals as well.

My bad. I guess that I've just heard the parodies (which I usually like).

I'd be happy to see him play the Super Bowl.

I'd be very surprised if he doesn't think of this on his own.

Werild Al is the best of both worlds- a nostalgia act who has a current hit album.  And he's a household name!

The Puppy Bowl is on all day. Half time happens but once.

The title is misleading. There's not a single puppy in that game that knows how to use a bowling ball.

It's actually the perfect audience.

Wouldn't happen. Don't get me wrong, I love Weird Al, but he doesn't have the mass appeal that Fark thinks he does (and despite the recent #1 album suggests). His music isn't for grandiose stadium sets, like Springsteen or Prince or The Who or even Beyonce and Bruno Mars/RHCP were.

The only way I could see this being a success is if the artists of the songs he's parodying perform alongside him.

You're not going to get high ratings with polka mashups and "The Night Santa Went Crazy".

he'd have to do stuff he can quickly go from costume to costume in on stage.

I love Al, and have ever since My Bologna. That said...
People have tried this before, it ain't gonna happen.

This would be farkin' awesome though...

Family/kid friendly too. Honestly I don't see this being out of the realm of possible.

They would never him book, the half time show is an attempt to bring in a demographic that doesn't give a crap about football but will stay tuned for act be it Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars or Madonna. I think football fans would enjoy Weird Al so the NFL wouldn't do it, they already have the NFL fans tuned in.

/I'd love it if they booked Weird Al

2014-08-06 05:16:24 PM
Well, his show would be less of a joke than the suspension the NFL gave to Ray Rice.

There you go, get some of the original artists to sing a verse or two.

I'm sure he's a fine person, but that would be a horrible halftime show. I seriously don't get the love for this guy.

Also, writing parody songs is easy.

Not going to happen. I'm sure the fat police will biatch and moan around their powdered doughnuts about how he's making fun of the genetically obese.

Also how many parody songs have you written?

I'd love it personally, but I don't think the crowd would "get it" and they'd probably start throwing shiat at him and booing. I don't want to see that happen.

I can't believe you, of the multiple bait gifs, bit at that.

The last SB my niece was like 1 1/2 years old, and the puppy bowl was her first experience of 'tv'.  It was awesome, she lost her mind.

I've never watched a Super Bowl in my life. I don't care about football, or spectator sports in general. I never even know when it is going to happen usually until a day or two before when someone asks me where I'm going to watch it.

I'd watch if Weird Al was in the halftime show.

I don't get when people call him a 'nostalgia act' considering he has a new album every 3 or so years, like a lot of bands.

Its like all the people that call his latest album a "comeback" which happens with every album since his first one.

I do, that is the only thing that would keep me from turning his goofy ass off, he was funny when I was thirteen, not now
