This beautiful snapshot of the Game of Thrones actor was taken in Canada, where Dinklage is filming Pixels. In the movie, Dinklage plays a gamer who's recruited by the military to fight real-life '80s video-game-type villains.

Plot totally unbelievable at this point.

Also, why is The Dink levitating in that photo?

Side effect of the chain gun, which apparently fires flashlights

The problem is that he's too highly paid now to appear in Sharknado 3: the Sharkpocolypse

The gun looks like an old-skool video camera mated with a Dyson vacuum & some flashlights.

The Dink does rawk that mullet.

Mr. Dinklage prefers that you not use the word "mini" in connection with him in any way.

You find it unbelievable that a movie would be filmed in Canada?

From the design of it, it looks like a stand-in prop for whatever post-production will paint in there.

Look at that magnificent hair! A regular 6' tall person would be heavy enough to negate all the feathers in that mullet, but Peter Dinklage is no ordinary man!  Sally Field may have proved the theory but Peter Dinklage farking perfected it.

Look at this face and tell me she's not totally jealous.

That movie will either be awesome, or it will be a huge steaming pile of suck. There's not much middle ground with a premise like that.

The short it's based on is pretty cool:  https://vimeo.com/10829255

But having Sandler in this definitely makes me doubtful.

Less or more believable than a plot involving a talking raccoon in outer space fighting aliens?

Obvious? That he's overrated? Ooooo, he's on GoT and has "acting" chops. He's overrated, the flavor of the month in Hollywood. Yeah, he started with short roles and now he's a big Hollywood start.... overrated.

the flashlights are high power strobes to create the muzzle flash effect on him and the scenery, they'll cg in the ends of the barrels and such later, its way cheaper than designing a giant rotating blank firing weapon

That's a minigun.

This is a 25mm chaingun:

upload.wikimedia.org

...and this is why it's called a chaingun.  On the left is the chain-driven bolt assembly for a 25mm M242 Bushmaster.   On the right is one for an M16 or M4:

That's not a chain gun.  That is a minigun, an electrically powered Gatling gun.

This stupidly wrong misnomer to the GE minigun can be attributed to the guys at id software when they made Doom and Wolfenstein 3D.  They referenced Ian V. Hogg's "Small Arms of the World."   One page shows the description of the GE XM134 7.62mm minigun, the next shows the description of a 30mm chaingun below a photo of the previous minigun, without a photo of the described chaingun.  Poor editing and proofing.  If you actually read the text, it's honest.  If you skim it, you're dumb.  Some numbnuts at id was dumb and didn't actually pay attention.

The misnomer of calling a rotary barrel machine gun a "chain gun" stuck.

Much like the IMI Desert Eagle is still mistakenly called the "Deagle" because of a programmer's shortcut of using a truncated name, and they didn't edit the description before release.  Some nerd made a mistake, and pop videogame culture has continued the mistaken trend after the fact.

A minigun is not chain-driven, it's a multi barreled, electrically driven rotary machine gun firing at 2000-6000rpms.
A chain gun is driven by a fricking chain, like a chainsaw or a bicycle.  A single barreled gun that very accurately fires large caliber rounds, repeatedly, and not-so-quickly.

Weird, I always thought humans shortened it in general. I always saw it as an abbreviation.

You're telling me that there are people out there who think the actual name is 'Deagle'?

Damn, Bullet Tooth Tony inconsolable.

Yes, CounterStrike programmers forgot to edit a single item description, and the Deagle was born, and many amateur firearms aficionados were then accurately labeled as videogame nerds.  That's what the "Deagle" does.

The same for calling a minigun a "chaingun" it's a pass/fail test.  Pop culture references aside, incorrect nomenclature is just that.  In a field where very specific nomenclature is required, casual pop-culture is a failing grade.
