I'm thinking that by the time you have reached this point...

The option to just put her in gear and drive away is gone!

You have to love the look on the elephant's face.  It just screams "Ooooooooooooooh... that's the spot.  Right there.  Oooooooooooooooohhhh"!

Yeah, after TFA goes on at length about the damage to the vehicle, there's an odd lack of photos of that damage.

Why I still remember this, I have no idea ... but it's still just as funny as it ever was.

I was thinking more of the scene from Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls where he tells an elephant to sit down on a car. A Bentley, I think.

Danger Avoid Death: If only there were some way that a car could move away.

Initially, I'm sure they were too shocked or scared to move, but before to long, they actually couldn't. The article said all four tires were blown and the chassis was broken.

Except there are no pictures of this. Even with the elephant lying on top of the car, the tires do not look like they are even bulging.

Like others, I call BS on the damage report.

Which is rather interesting considering the VW Polo (and 99.99999%) of all cars built today are uni-body, which means there is no separate body/chassis components.

This was the headline picked for this story? It is more of a byline lacking wit or humour... It's not news, but the dry description of news.

I noticed that too.  I'm guessing they meant "suspension" when they said "chassis."  That much extra weight on a car (especially as a percentage of the car's existing weight) could easily damage a suspension component.

Back in the late '70s/early '80s, we were at Great Adventure in New Jersey. We're driving through the safari and saw an elephant scratching it's butt back and forth on a huge rock. It was so funny. Also, a giraffe peed on our car. Also funny.

I read that as CAT, and the picture was very disappointing.

This is why you put a baseball bat in the car for unforseen situations like this. Just whack the elephant's leg and it will run away.
