Thinker Thursday came early this week.

2014-08-06 08:38:04 AM
Oh my god, it's full of stupid.

2014-08-06 08:43:55 AM
That was retarded even for the American Thinker. I lost more brain cells reading that than I did this morning drinking a pint of vodak.

2014-08-06 08:49:30 AM
I'm starting to worry that this particular barrel has no bottom

2014-08-06 08:50:37 AM
That article so full of stupid that I couldn't even begin to dispute it.  Trying to argue with it would be like trying to drain the ocean with a pail.  You could work for a life time and not even make a noticeable dent.

This is the most "You're blankist for bringing up blank" article I have ever read.

Why won't Liberals remind people of all the good things from the past? You know, like women who had dinner on the table and knew their place? When folks of various colors didn't mix with good, white women because they knew that they'd see the end of a noose? When children were given the opportunity to help their families put bread on the table by working in factories or in the fields without regard for their schooling? When a man could walk down the street without fear of being competed out of business by some immigrant taking his job? When Congresscritters were only white, and a Congressman didn't have to worry about offending someone of color, because they weren't going to be able to vote? When the Chinese were seen as a invading force, and kept to their own ghettos so that the railroads could roll? When America didn't have to apologize for Interring citizens? When there were only a few religions that had any pull in this country, and we told the ones that we didn't like to sod off and take to the hills and go where there weren't any decent people to bother? Why won't people leave these things alone? It's almost as if they're obsessed with the "rights" of all citizens, instead of the rights of the only people who truly matter...

So, I gather from the comments here that this article might even be dumber than usual?

If Liberals are indeed progressives, how is it that they deploy pre-Civil Rights era rhetoric to combat any Republican opposition to Democrat initiatives? The same goes for Republican initiatives that Democrats oppose.

Because Republicans keep doing things and proposing things from the pre-Civil Rights era, as if it never happened.

At least progressives are remembering an actual past.  Republicans long to return to an idealized past that never existed in the first place.

Meh.  Hard to tell.  Same boring formula American Thinker usually uses.  The particulars really don't matter.

It's not really the depth of the stupidity, it's the breadth.  He is more shotgun gun than sniper stupid.

Is it immoral to euthanise American Thinker writers?

I mean I believe in a general prohibition on killing people who aren't actively engaged in a fascist takeover of Europe or some such but at this point I'm starting to lean towards "fark it get rid of them".

The basic argument is this "If they're going to call themselves Progressives, they shouldn't be allowed to bring up anything from the past".

Yeah, like that's a thread they should tug at.

If you're going to call yourself conservative, you shouldn't be allowed to dictate the terms of a woman's sexual life, pregnancy, and health.

If you're going to call yourself conservative, you shouldn't be allowed to take government subsidies.

That would be a fun list.  Have at it.

In recent years, Liberal Democrats have adopted the name Progressives. Is the name appropriate? Merriam-Webster's dictionary defines progressive as moving forward or onward--

... upward, not forward; and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

Why should those tree-huggers be able to bring up unnecessary wars, failed economic policies, disregard for minority rights, and a blatant preference for scoring political points over doing what's right for the country? Those things are all in the past (and probably future)!

Came in to say this....because that's as far as I got in the article.  I just couldn't rationalize that sentence.

I wonder how he was able to type all that with Reagan's balls in his face, under his "Goldwater was right" poster, one tab over from infroming a liberal on a 9/11 memorial website that "the party of Lincoln" is not racist but "the party of Byrd" was, secure in his belief in what a horrible president Carter was.

// don't conservatives love reminding progressives that super-racist Woodrow Wilson was one of the first big-name progressives?

Once upon a time the Democratic party was noble and idealistic, but over time evolved into the unrecognizable jellyfish like mass it is today, more concerned with consolidating political power among the few elites in the party than making the country as a whole stronger,  and like any over-the-hill fighter, they like to talk about the glory days.
