Presumably her opera scared off every single mountain lion in the aria...

/story fails without saying what she sang
//I'd probably go with Nessun dorma or E lucevan le stelle, but that's just me...
///or something in German to scare it

Well, that and cougars tend to prefer to prey on young men.

Der Hölle Rache kocht in mein Herzen would be my choice but I'd never hit the F.

She certainly had a voice for silent film, didn't she?

/come to think of it, playing that might get you mauled by a mountain lion frantic to stop that mal canto
//it would certainly shatter every glass object in a 20 mile radius

CSB:

We were visiting Sabino Canyon outside of Tucson for the first time a few years ago and noticed a lot of "DANGER MOUNTAIN LION ACTIVITY" signs on all the trails.  We ran into one of the Park Rangers and asked if this was something recent.  He told us that it was and they suspected that it was due to the drought that was driving their prey more and more into contact with people, so the mountain lions were losing heir natural fear of humans.

"So what do we do if confronted by one of these predators" we asked.

He told us to put our arms over our head and to "sing as loud as you can... at the very top of your lungs"

"Will that scare them away" we asked?

"No" he replied, "but it gives us a chuckle, and then we have a pretty good idea of where to start looking for your remains".

We shared a hearty laugh as we walked back to our car with him..

that's awesome.

Was it because:

1) She heard the lion enjoyed listening to people sing;

2) A zoo offered her a $10,000 reward;

3) She willingly transported the lion 20 miles or so to the zoo,
singing all the way?

(It worked for Daffy Duck trying to catch the escaped Tasmanian Devil.)

She was probably singing Wagner's Ring Cycle. Nobody can listen to that crap.
