I learned the word "stowaway" as a kid watching the TV series "The Time Tunnel", Titanic episode. Also that year, watching Bruce Lee as Kato in the Green Hornet.

She's also over 50 and a woman. She could probably murder someone and call it an accident and walk.

Minority male - terrorist
White male - felony, possibly terrorist if he has a funny name
Minority woman - felony
White woman - misdemeanor if she's hot

I bet she does this frequently because she found the gaps. Target Southwest because they don't have assigned seating. Use a regional airport with lighter security. Look innocuous.

OK, so if you are able to knowingly and willingly to bypass security, and gain access to restricted areas at a major airport, and already have a history of doing so, at most you will be charged with a misdemeanor and a $500 fine?

I've always wondered how so many broke homeless people made it to Hawaii.   It's not like you can hitchhike or catch a bus to get there.

CSB: When I worked at the Coast Guard district office in downtown SF,  I was walking up Sansome St early in one morning on my way to work. A guy in an Aloha shirt approaches me and tells me he's missed the bus to the airport (or some such sob story), he had a flight to catch to Hawaii and could I give him money toward getting to SFO. I gave him some money and forgot all about the incident.

Until a couple of years later, the same guy approaches me at the same place with the same story. I asked him what he did with the money I gave him back then, and he said he had no idea what I was talking about. I decided to let someone else give him money that day, my friends.

As mentioned up-thread, being old and female gets you a lot of mileage with the TSA idiots.  Being white as a sheet doesn't hurt with most of them, either.

A lot of people, like the lady in the article probably does, think that moving to Hawaii will make life easier or more enjoyable. The reality is that the cost of living is stupid, apartments are unaffordable on minimum wage, gas is consistently over $4 ($5 on some islands), registering a vehicle costs an entire paycheck, and a bus pass is $60 a month. Everything is expensive. Also, you have to factor in the amount of former military, and other people likely to have mental issues.

Micronesians are also an issue. The state government likes to pay them to immigrate for some cultural reason or something, then they can't adapt and end up in poverty.

There's a large transient population and people go broke or have mental breakdowns and get stranded.

I don't think he is scared, it's more of the fact that if someone else would have done it they would have been beaten by the police, tased, then booked in Gitmo for the rest of their lives.  This old lady does it and gets $500 bail and a slap on the wrist.

Lots of homeless and native Hawaiians live on the beach in blue tarp huts... Thereby driving the tourists away, and nearby businesses out of business. Honolulu PD just tries to keep the crack heads and homeless away from Waikiki...

Don't take your rental jeep way out to the southwest corner of Oahu, in order to find that secluded beach experience... By the time you are in the waves, homeless crack heads are already rifling thru your luggage/ glove box, from the bushes.

fark you, I'm the farking victim here because what this 62 year mentally addled old lady did was prove that TSA is nothing but incompetent security theater that I have to not only endure with my mouth shut, but foot the farking bill for as well.

She, Mr. I'll-just-hitch-a-ride-on-the-landing-gear, and others in the same vein prove time and time again TSA to be complete shiathats at what passes for 'airport security'.

I want more people like her till TSA can figure out how to do the job properly, or are disbanded all together.

If that concept is unclear to you you're more than welcome to go sit on a farking cactus.
