Seen it. While I'm no fan of GotG, it was a decent, fun movie. Focused on characters and didn't rely too much on razzle-dazzle, and just as important, didn't take itself too seriously (hint hint DC).

Honestly didn't think it was going to be this well received. My money was on it being an opening day bomb.

I took Friday afternoon off to see it with a friend and he totally bailed on me with not so much as a text.

I am PISSED.

But glad to hear it was good.  Can't wait to see it.  Unfortunately I have pager this coming weekend so that means I'll miss it until it's no longer in 3D.

I'm going Thursday. And I'm looking forward to it. Because I've waited a long while to see Rocket Raccoon on the big screen.

Mind you, my introduction to the little fella was by way of The Hulk and Mignola's four part mini-series. It was awesome, and I will readily admit, that as a fan, I'm the target audience. I'm in it for the fun, and by all accounts, it should deliver.

3D gives me a pounding headache. So I never see anything in 3D. There is only one scene that would be neat to see in 3D.

So, to re-cap, you ain't missing much

And the Avengers WAS fun. That's the one thing that Marvel has done with this cycle of films. They're fun. They're self aware, they don't take themselves too seriously, and they deliver NOT brooding and self absorption, but give fans a fun ride.

GotG is 90 incredibly boring, tedious minutes followed by a half hour of fantastic. I'm impressed by how well it's done considering what a risk it must have been to make.

You got to cut up the vegetables before you make the stew.

CSB: Lost my mom about 7 years ago, so it's no where never a fresh wound. But going to the movies was our thing. This was my boys first PG-13 rated movie and I was getting a little choked up about the idea of her being with us and how cool it would have been.

Then the first 5 minutes of the movie happened. No, I didn't know the background story about Star-Lord, and no I wasn't ready for that.

I was hoping for at least IMAX.  Anyway, I'm sure I'll enjoy it when I finally get to see it in whatever mode is still available.

Farking pager every other weekend is destroying me.  I need some relief.

Turn of phrase.  I'm "on call."  I get texted for Severity 1 issues.  Which, given our retarded policies, is any issue you think should be a Sev 1.

Beat your hard drive with hammer and pour acid all over it and need to recover your system?  Sev 1.

Too busy to read the installation guide or certification page?  Sev 1.

Drop the SYS schema from your database?  Sev 1.

Got the sniffles?  Sev 1.

I wish I were kidding.

I LOVED the original comics, but i don't like how the movie introduced a talking raccoon and a tree-man into the mix.   They weren't needed, and was too far-fetched.

My boy Chris Nolan would've handled the material properly, giving everything a dark and gritty realism.

Instead of a supernatural cat woman, lets make her a cat burglar person....who doesn't do anything special or super.  And lets also break the heroes back, and let him heal up in a cave on the other side of the world...without medical care.

Yeah, they're definitely heading toward--- oh wait, this movie made $20M more than forcasted, got a 92% Tomatometer, and launched a completely new Marvel franchise into the stratosphere. But they're definitely heading for trouble because one guy on the Internet thought it was too lighthearted. Please excuse the snark.

Well, in order for it to be the best move ever, they need to out do the Avengers monetarily, outdo Winter Soldier as stories go, and steal a man's prosthetic leg.

Is this a popularity = quality argument to dismiss a guy's opinion?

I'm consistent. It's really weird, I know. I knew I would like the movie, but not really my cup of tea. Certain amount of silliness just rub me the wrong way.

Which is weird because I really like the Star Wars movie.

Winter Soldier was damn good. I really liked Iron man 1, Thor and Avengers.

Same here. Specifically it had a much better opening sequence (the opening of Avengers had me worried for a bit), and the ending didn't rely on deus ex machina to suddenly shut down the hundreds of invading alien troops all at once.

Darth_Lukecash: It was okay.  It was fun, but a bit too lighthearted.  There were more than a few scenes that boardered on ridiculous.

I'm curious to know exactly which scenes you considered bordering on ridiculous but I guess I also want to avoid spoiler territory here for anyone that hasn't seen it yet. Being lighthearted is exactly what the movie needed at times to counter those few moments that were more serious.  There's nothing wrong with a movie simply being "fun", but Hollywood seems to have forgotten that in the last few years.

If the line for "goofy" is set at Joel Schumacher then Guardians was *nowhere near* goofy.  Thank goodness.

The movie was lighthearted fun with moments of deft heartstring-tuggery.

Catwoman was not supernatural. And Batman had a chiropractor in the prison.
gaurd isn't wasn't meant to be Batman, but having Andy dance in the opening credits was silly.
