Zero tolerance policies are stupid.   Aiming for average they punish minor infractions too harshly and severe infractions too lightly.

Well, that should make things easier on the crippled orphans.

I'm glad we got the zero-tolerance = zero-brains derp out of the way, but I believe zero tolerance towards child exploitation is A-OK...except in this case, it was 70% tolerance*

If it's mass produced in China then part of it has been done with what we consider child labour.

There is a zero in 30. And in 70 (the remaining % of orders). And they tolerate it. See?

Why do you hate capitalism, subby?

If those kids don't like working for Samsung, they can get a job somewhere else.

They should go work at Foxconn. They care about their workers' well-being so much they even give them a health plan.

It's never too early for the kiddies to begin experiencing the soul-crushing tedium that will slowly engulf them over the remainder of their days until Death arrives as a welcome relief, bringing at least the promise of an end to it all. Since China doesn't have C-SPAN, ten or twelve hours a day doing drudgework in a sweatshop is a reasonable alternative for the little tykes. And where else will WalMart get its inventory?

Don't bother, I'll defend them in this one.

A job at Foxconn is better than many other jobs in China and *MUCH* better than life in the countryside. Foxconn employees also commit suicide at a rate lower than the general population of China...though each suicide (in addition to being a tragedy) is a PR nightmare.

However, further investigation has revealed that the under age workers weren't hired by Dongguan Shinyang Electronics directly but rather, an outside agency the supplier instead

Do they have running water in the Foxconn plants?  Then they're already ahead.

I would imagine they have running water, but the toilets are probably the hole in the ground style...

Truth be told I want to like any corporation. They all just seem hellbent on being the worst "people" ever. Except Apple. I hate Apple and their crappy as hell products with the fire of the sun. Whoever "engineers" their products needs to be drawn and quartered.

Then Samsung also has that physically beating employees and forcing employees to work with toxic carcinogenic chemicals without protection thing going for them. Which... ummm... is nice?

It has mostly been lost to the mist of time but Intel factories in the US were notorious for not protecting employees from dangerous chemicals.
