So just for kicks I decided to read through the "Women Against Feminism" blog.  Save yourself the torture, because this is what you'll find:
1. Women against the strawman specter of feminazis portrayed by Rush Limbaugh, filled with the notion that a feminist must hate men, children, families, homemaking and cooking.
2. Women that have confused their personal happiness with global justice.
3. A bunch of pictures with illegible text.
4. Some women that have no doubt gotten one too many earfuls from know-it-all college sophomores.

I feel sorry for the last group.  God knows that sucks.

So you create a strawman as a reaction to a strawman.

Tell us what the difference is between feminism and humanism. Therein lies the answer.

Feminism is not a subset of humanism. For example, humanism allows men to be it's leaders as well as women. The only prominent feminist leaders are women and that is by design.

I've never met a female MRA leader either so I'm not getting your point.

The most prominent leaders of the NAACP are black as well. Does this surprise and/or appall you on some level?

One doesn't have to be a member of a group to support a group.

See: my support for LGTB rights, women's rights, animal rights, etc.

But if one represents a group it makes sense to make that representative a member of the group being represented.

Obviously this is not possible with animal rights and environmental issues.

I self describe as a feminist and a humanist and consider the one within the purview of the other.

It's called cognitive dissonance. You can't accept that your quasi-religious views on feminism are simply wrong,

quatchi: female MRA leader

They're all over the place. In fact, the reason that they are so widely accepted among people who fight for things like: ending selective service, unequal prison sentencing, discrimination against boys, discrimination in divorce, male circumcision etc. What does feminism advocate for any of these issues other than to discredit them or give weak lip service to some perspective.

You have to bring up the MRM as a red herring because your own humanism is lacking in empathy for men and it's easier to attack someone else's beliefs than defend your own. But you are wrong, so it's easy to point that out.

In fairness, that one's actually the fault of some feminist writers, not Limbaugh.  He's not really... necessary to making the movement look ridiculous, they have their own subset that does for them what the religious right does for Christianity without any need for outside help.

Vice just did a pretty fair piece about the women in the men's rights movement. You can claim that women against feminism are just silly little chicks who can't comprehend the things they think about and invent strawmen all you want, but some women feeling derided for being homemakers is as legitimate as some women feeling derided for not looking like the "media ideal." Turns out women are capable of holding a diverse number of views and perceptions of the world, regardless of what you want them to think.

How many people read arch-feminist, misandrist authors?  Basically none.  Sure, you might meet one or two in your life.  How many people worship Limbaugh?  Millions.  And he paints every single non-GOP woman with the same broad "feminazi" brush.

They certainly are, but the fact is that the blog I was critiquing was rife with reactions to strawmen and absolute conceptual failures to understand what feminism is and the history behind it.

Milk D: You don't need feminism when you want my seat on the train though.

I ride the train/bus every single day, at least once in the morning and once at night.

I have been doing so for years.

In all of that time, I have NEVER seen a man stand up and offer a seat to a woman who was not elderly or heavily pregnant.

The vast majority of the time, the only people willing to give up a seat for the abovementioned handicapped people have been women as well.

Hell, the other week I saw a young woman get up to allow an elderly man to sit, and an able-bodied middle aged man took the time to loudly tell her how nice it was for that young lady to do that.  Another disabled woman sitting nearby snapped at the middle aged man that HE could also have stood up instead of thanking others for it, and the man seriously shot back "She's YOUNGER than me"

The misandristic, matriarchal supremacists who have unfortunately co-opted the term "Feminist" are the very antithesis of contemporary feminism.

It's supposed to be about equality, which is good, not about role reversal, which would be bad. Some of these women do not want equality, they want supremacy.

I think this is ultimately what it boils down to: choice.  If a woman or man wants to be a homemaker, that's their choice.  If a woman or man wants to be the breadwinner, that's their choice.  It's a decision up to the individual or family unit to come to on their own terms given their set of circumstances rather than a function of some societal norm.  I would hope any promoter of "humanism" or "feminism" or "masculism" argues for everyone's right to equality of choice to further the realization of a equality of circumstance.

And yes, this means requiring provision of those right neglected to women, but also requires their inclusion in to responsibilities forced upon men.  Granted, there will always be certain disparities because women and men aren't EXACTLY alike, but the our laws should only see those instances as an exception not a rule.
