(The Big Story)   Mogadishu, Somalia now has sports radio station that by all accounts is less pathetic than any sports radio station in Boston, or New York, or Chicago, or (your city here)   (bigstory.ap.org) divider line 21

"That pirate Bigwa has just lost it. He used to bring in the big frieghters, but lately it's been a bunch of dinghies."

"I disagree. I mean earlier this year, he struck big with that oil tanker. That was a real winner. He's just taking what they give him right now, but I have a feeling he's about to break out and rip one of those Panamax ships real soon."

"Let's go to our first caller..."

"Oh, I completely agree. Bigwa hasn't lost it yet. He'll be hitting big real soon. I can feel it!"

It's not Mogadishu. It's the "Mog". Got it?

Sports and small government. Republicans would love it.

Man...that one woman in the photo sure has a face for radio....yikes...

Good that Somalis can listen to mindless blather from folks who think they know sports

How hard is it to beat the same 10 song rotation every station is playing?

Sorry, but the pathetic sports radio crown belongs to Miami.

It was fun listening to it the few days after LeBag went back to Cleveland.

Now, much like Cleveland; Miami sports radio is a factory of sadness.

I don't know.  87.7 FM The Game is pretty entertaining in Chicago because nobody gets overly serious.  Everyone is just there for fun.

Better than listening to explosions outside from folks who think they know how to run a government. Which is the point.

Hey, they have to pave the way for Zefram Cochrane High School!

/That's a Star Trek novel joke...

Chicago seems like a good comparison. I understand there are a lot of black hawk fans in Mogadishu too.

At least you folks don't have to listen to WDAE620 here in Tampa. The 9 to 12 noon show may be the largest waste of radio / internet time in history. If they actually knew wht they were talking about  it might be different. Very little "sports" news, more talk about who they'd like to bang ( and these guys are old) and what they cooked for dinner last night.

Unless it's the NFL they don't have enough knowledge to talk about any other sports. Unless sucking Tiger's and Lebrons c*ck is a sport.

Ya know - If they talk about something other than Johnny Manziel, the Jets and Redskins, I might give it a listen.

In my experience, talk radio is to sports what TMZ is to the performing arts.  Just a bunch of meatheads taking something that's a pleasant, sometimes compelling, but ultimately meaningless distraction and taking it entirely too seriously.

/you see a lot of that sort of thing in Fantasy/Rotisserie/whatever sports leagues, too

Yeah, well, two of the Philadelphia sports radio stations moved to FM so you might actually scan across them by accident.  It doesn't get much worse than that.

NEXT CALLER:

"Muhammad?"

"Yes."

"Am I on?"

"Yes. Go ahead, caller."

"Ah, yes. Hello. First time, long time. I am calling to say the previous-caller-infidel in Qardho doesn't know what he's talking about."

Sports radio is about the lowest of the low.

I'll take late night crazies like Art Bell used to give a platform too as providing more value than anything on sports radio.

How about transmitting Somali all-sports radio to Pittsburgh?  (More interest in pirates than in Pirates.)

Dear god, did the station pick up Colin Cowherd's show? Haven't those poor bastards suffered enough?

Especially JT the Brick.  Loves him some good ol corporate-sports welfare!

I think I'll listen to him one last time tonight on my ride home.  I think the only thing that saves his show is Tom Looney.
