In this case, yes. Shooting someone else by accident seems far more common, though.

Alright you Primitive Screwheads, listen up! You see this? This... is my boomstick! The twelve-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?

Get some sane gun laws in this country and sh*t like this will go away.

It will? Point me to the proposed legislation that would have prevented this.

I'm not saying gun laws don't have their place, but it's a bit difficult to prevent dumbasses from being dumbasses through legislation.

An autopsy? Isn't the cause of death rather obvious? Something like "shotgun wound to the head" obvious?

sforce: Can't one of these people do the 2girls1cup setup and have a camera recording the friend's faces when he does this?

I'm pretty sure somebody was recording him with their phone to show him how much of an ass he was being later. That is why he went the extra mile to put it to his face and pull the trigger, and also why the cops were so quick to rule out foul play. Give it time, it will pop up on the internet.

I think they need to rule out or verify if it was truly lead poisoning or not. make sure there were no other illicit drugs that could have caused the death.

Police were called to an Evanston home for an accidental shooting. They found Eric Zyzanski on the floor with a shotgun wound to the head, lying next to the shotgun.

Sounds like a Polish name. Nuff said

Unless upon doing a toxicology report they find out he had enough Oxy in his system to knock out an elephant, therefore making it impossible for him to pull the trigger. Not saying that happened, but that is why autopsies are done in a large number of deaths.

I think if he was not armed would have stopped this, but then again he would still have two legs and two feet full of toes and not even two brain cells to rub together, so he would have found a way.

So a retard was able to hold a weapon to his face and pull the trigger? Last time I remember they made you wait 3 days before giving you a license; since when do retards get licenses?

I mean there's pretty much just the right way, and then all of the other, stupid ways.

Get the 2nd amendment overturned and I'm right behind you on this one. Until then I think gun safety should be taught in elementary school and followed up with yearly refreshers.
I grew up shooting a pellet rifle and learned safety before i could even hold up the rifle. As i became an adult i started collecting real guns and stopped counting them after a few dozen. Nobody in my family has ever had an accident.

Exactly, remove the mystery and fear of guns and more people will own them.  Certain people don't want to prevent tragedy so much as ban guns.  To ban guns you have to demonize them like they did with cannabis and other drugs.

No! It is for the good of humanity that we must allow Darwinism to proceed. Seriously though, I really don't get how all these accidental gunshot wounds happen. First question I always ask is why the hell was it pointed at someone in the first place. Also personally I clear my chamber obsessively. Every single time I put a gun down or pick it up I clear the chamber even if I just checked it a few seconds ago. It is not at all hard to do and keeps everyone safe. This isn't a matter of training it is a matter of basic common sense.

Gun safety classes are of no use for banning guns, the gun-banners aren't pushing them.  The NRA promotes gun safety but doesn't like anything that mandates spending money.  Thus nobody is pushing for such a law.

(Now, some sort of backdoor registration scheme based in licensing is another matter, the gun-banners like registration schemes.)

Harvey Manfrenjensenjen: It will? Point me to the proposed legislation that would have prevented this.

I'm not saying gun laws don't have their place, but it's a bit difficult to prevent dumbasses from being dumbasses through legislation.

I don't think you can completely prevent it but a proper gun safety class might have.

lewismarktwo: Most of these gun 'accidents' are really just homicide or suicide and no has the gumption to admit to it.

True, but when there are multiple witnesses to someone being stupid and no reason to think it's a stealth suicide it probably really is an accident.

Likewise, when a bullet hits a target that the person with the gun couldn't have aimed at it's almost certainly an accident.

Why? Would a licensing class make the gun not fire if you put it to your head and pulled the trigger?
