If CBS makes > $3 million per episode, they can afford it. I'd rather see the money go to the cast than the executives.

I wish what I did for a living was worth $24 million per year. Good for them for getting it, even though I've heard Galecki is a douche in real life.

He is. I grew up with him. He has been an ass since I first met him when he was in first grade. And you want to know who is an even bigger ass than him? His little brother who works for one of the largest chop shops in the area. It is a wonder how that place stays open. His little brother was such an ass that a few years ago every other weekend you would hear a story about how he got his ass beat for popping off the mouth at somebody or harassing somebody's girl.

Hey, that's not what makes the show enjoyable!

They should have taken that money and gotten new blondes with new tits. THAT'S why people enjoy the show.

Enough episodes for syndication: check
Large payday for actors: check

These guys have bought themselves out of the market so we're looking at the very least 2 more seasons of this show and it's over.

I think it's amazing this show has been on for so long and these people are getting paid so much and I've never seen one episode.

I'm not a "I don't watch TV" guy and I'm not ANTI-Big Bang Theory or anything.  I've simply just never caught the show!

This show is horrible.  Any comedy show where I will get maybe 2 chuckles an episode is not a good show.  The hot chick can't even convince me to  spend time watching it.

Can't blame them for that. Hell, even Leblanc and Schwimmer locked down deals to set themselves up for life.

At $24 million a year, even bank interest would pay out enough for a comfortable retirement. So I don't think they're too worried about it; I wouldn't be.

not to mentioned they quadrupled their back-end deals. As long as someone, somewhere is broadcasting reruns, they's gettin' paid.

I am a old nerd at 45, came up through the dot com days, built a Heathkit Robot, played D n D, went to hamfests, met gates and jobs, and still find the show highly un-watchable.

I have tried on multiple occasions to like it, but it seems to be written for the pseudo nerd hipster crowd.

My mom wouldn't have known a pseudo nerd hipster if he threw 12-sided die at her while dressed as Gandalf and listening to a Vampire Weekend record but she loved the show because of the interplay of the characters. 77 year old women when she died. She knew nothing about comics, sciencey stuff or any of the other so called "nerd" references. She liked the characters.

The only guy that deserves to get paid anything for that dreck is the poor slob that has to sit through it to edit in the laugh-track.

Leonard: Sheldon! We have to do this!
Sheldon: No, we don't. We have to take in nourishment, expell waste, and inhale enough oxygen to keep ourselves from dying. Everything else is optional!

My best friend is from London, runs a travel agency, and is a brillian guy, and far from a geek and loves the show.

He knows my nerd street cred and said to me"how come you do not act like that"?

But I was a renaissance nerd.  Bar manager at Pat Os on Bourbon street, tour down the Amazon, etc....

But in my day the nerds were in love with Feynman and Kon Tiki.

Although I like "The Big Bang Theory", I think it may have jumped the shark already.  At the end
of last season, Leonard and Penny got engaged, the comic book store burned down, and Sheldon
left town on a train.  It would appear a big bony fish is circling Apartment 4A on Las Robles Avenue
(and no, I don't mean that "Sharknado 3" is filming there).

Li'l Robbie: johnnygew: When will they hire Ted McGinley?

Right after Leonard and Penny get married and Bernadette has a baby.

And also Sheldon's nephew moves in.  (Last season's Christmas episode had Sheldon at home in
Texas assisting in his sister's delivery of a baby - she had a boy.  No word if Robbie Rist, our
beloved Cousin Oliver, will play him.)

2014-08-04 09:24:53 PM
no one anywhere could legitimately find a reason to be Sheldon's real friend.  casual maybe, offhanded acquaintance maybe but nothing more.  even though his portrayal is really talented for his commitment to 'quirky', no one would suffer his affects, demands and genuine disregard for everyone.  even in the small efforts to humanize him, they weren't even remotely believable.  (fark your couch cushion in exchange for ruining Walowitz's career.  you took it back in 5 mins showing how hollow the gesture was.)  and btw, there are real people in the world who are much like this guy, but they dont have friends like his, ones who'd actually go to bat for him in important moments.

of course it works for plot devices and the show dynamic, but not for a show about nerds FOR nerds.  its a show about nerds for non-nerds, or people who claim to be because its trendy.  the trendy ones would use it as humble embarassing details abou themselves, not a matter of pride.  its a large collection of surface stereotypes for the masses.  i liked seeing some Rosanne alums on the show (the only one of Lorre's shows I could stomach) but otherwise its a thoroughly disappointing effort at nerdity.  (btw, ive only ever seen it on TBS reruns so im not sure what kind of story it has beyond those synidicated seasons.)  Lorre's shows are a shameful state of what the public will not only consume but thoroughly love.  If for nothing else it serves as something to study cultural downfalls of a society.

for my nerd cred (if yer curious), im 40.  i managed a comic book store for 10 years, played D&D since 1991, dabbled in every game (card, board, video) that came thru the store from '95-00 and more importantly, suffered every customer story about the epic Pokemon session they had last night, their newly re-written Forgotten Realms module that TSR kept rejecting, the epic nerd-rage at bringing Superman back in those 4 different bodies, and fanboys who love Wizard magazine and fans who thought Wizard would crush the industry (and nearly did in the 'speculator era').  my first computer was a Commodore Vic21 (with the extra 1kb more than the Vic20 - i never beat Gorf).  I was synonymous with the Revenge of the Nerds since I was 11 years old when my mom made me wear a pocket protector for a shirt I normally wore to church.  I read sci-fi/fantasy books out of enjoyment from the age of 9 and since (although its been 10+ yrs since I read any 'new' sci-fi/fantasy).  I have honestly never been known to my family or friends as anything other than a nerd for 30 years.  Im not trying to speak for all of nerddom, but my authenticity is genuine.  this is just why BBT borders on offensive to me.  not really, but mostof the jokes are so pathetically pandering that my inner-nerd cant find them funny.

Of course, if im like anyone in the show it's the guy who managed the comic store (surprisingly similar to me as stereotypes go) but the nerds on the show are just the surface, superficial depictions for the people who eitehr like to laugh AT them, not with them, or the casual person who laughs right along with the laugh track or the expected rhythm of a typical sitcom.  ive met genuine nerds who enjoy the show but none who laud it.  they all have similar qualms with the genuine depiction of nerds in comedies.  There were some decent laugh out loud moments on the show, but they were so rare it wasnt worth it.  I regret knowing as much as I do about those seasons, but sometimes (with no CABLE cable) it was the only things on at 2am that I would keep on in the background while doing shiat on the internet.  i have no one to blame but myself but i watched it nonetheless.

Li'l Robbie: the comic book store burned down

They said at Comi-Con that the comic book store is coming back. They also said they were in no hurry to get to Leonard and Penny's wedding. I think this show has never been much about character development. They can have characters' story arcs progress much more slowly than some other shows, extending the life of the series. They aren't going to start running out of things for their main characters to do and start overextending for extra characters, babies, etc. to try to keep things fresh.
