On average, he was quite comfortable.

Just because his boat is burning doesn't mean the heat is heading in his direction, nor is getting back on the burning boat a viable option despite how warm it is.

People make fun of the Coast Guard, but they're pretty bad ass in my book. I can't say I've ever met a CG crew that wasn't a good group of people to have around.

Damn near every vet I know admits man to man if they had it to do over again, they'd do CG. Also, rescue swimmers are BAD ASS.

A survival suit won't keep him good for 50 minutes in the water? Also, "clinging to the life raft"? Seems like he didn't don the suit completely or get into the raft correctly. But I've probably just seen too many movies.

I'm willing to bet the boat was actually called Dawn Treader

Out of the 39 000 men and women that make up the United States Coast Guard there are only 280 rescue swimmers. This is because we are the Coast Guard's elite. We are the best of the best. When storms shut down entire ports, we go out. When hurricanes ground the United States Navy, we go out. And when the holy Lord himself reaches down from heaven and destroys his good work with winds that rip houses off the ground, We. Go. Out.

I like to think of them as the police, firemen, and ambulance crews all rolled into one.

Well the Coast Guard as a whole not the rescue swimmers. I just like that quote.

The first two yes, but ambulances cost a lot of money to summon, which is an important distinction.

I bet the average temperature in the area was quite comfortable. Isn't that right Climate Change Denialists?

While these guys are certainly badass, the reason there is only 280 of them is because thats apparently all that is needed.  If there was a need and a budget for more, there would be more.

/Just sayin...

There's a need but no budget, and the coasts are clogged with drowning American citizens.

Was wondering about that myself.  Cold water inside the suit, maybe?

Yeah yeah, blah blah, cool article bro. But holy shiat, did you guys check out the other stories listed on that page? I mean, damn, it's like a whole other fark.com over there!

-Police Catch Woman Having Sex with Pit Bull In A Backyard
