(WTOP)   Good news for all Farkers out there with blossoming rap careers, as judge says your violent lyrics cannot be used as evidence against you in your first murder trial. Still no word from the bench about your Fark headlines though   (wtop.com) divider line 34

Unless the lyrics are incredibly specific, like "I drove Dashonte Williams out to the meadowlands, stabbed that motherfarker, and buried him in a shallow ditch" - and then someone subsequently found Dashonte Williams buried in a ditch in the meadowlands, I don't see how they could be relevant during a trial. How could the prosecution even attempt to link lyrics to a murder otherwise?

"Yo, look in my eyes. You can see death comin' quick. Look in my palms. You can see what I'm gunnin' with"

Too bad being a horrible lyricist isn't a crime

Big government at work

All they needed to was prove that this guy is a murderer, and it seemed like an open shut case, the rap lyrics was stupid and unnecessary. Unless they read like a confession with details to the murder.

Imagine the things a band like Slayer could be suspected of if you used their lyrics against them.

No kidding.  That's almost as crazy as attempting to link video games to violence.

Just because a concept is preposterous doesn't mean a prosecutor won't try to use it.

If my Fark headlines could be used against me.. I'd either get a couple of laughs from the judge, or no, I'd pretty much be screwed.

Eric Clapton has been arrested in the shooting death of a sheriff. They are still looking for an accomplice who shot a deputy.

Well, Russ, I was there and I saw what you did. I saw it with my own two eyes. So you can wipe off that grin, I know where you've been. It's all been a pack of lies.
