The sooner the GOP candidates start their 2016 campaigns, the more time they have to ruin their chances by saying and doing the dumbest things. Which, coincidentally, all the GOP Presidential candidates have been good at for the last 10 years and running.

I, for one, would like to encourage Mr. Perry to run for president...

2014-08-04 09:37:19 AM
His campaign's infrastructure was deeply flawed (his team missed the Virginia ballot deadline) and its staff was cocky (they thought they could skip tiresome tasks like kissing up to Iowans and working the political media). "They were grossly overconfident in their own abilities-crazy confident," marvels Bill Miller, a veteran GOP lobbyist in Austin. "They were playing by their own rules. They thought they were geniuses."

That much was obvious. That's why this guy gave a lot of us flashbacks to the Bush Administration's misplaced swagger.

Hmmm... This gives me a thought.

Dear Governor Perry: It has come to my attention that you may be running for the presidency of the United States. As a US Citizen living overseas, I would like to aid in your campaign among expats and other American Citizens who would be voting by absentee ballot. I feel that if folks overseas could be persuaded, the absentee expat vote would be enough to clinch your presidency. I believe in this so much that I would be happy to run your overseas campaign for you. Please send me all of the money required to run a successful campaign among American expats in the Asia/Pacific region, and I will do my best. A couple million US dollars should do it. Thank you.

P.S. Don't worry, I have absolutely no plans at all to take the money and run. None. None at all.

That's what I want to know!  Seriously, if you're just going to go all "the sky is purple" right in the headline, I'm not going to read the rest of the article.  You can lure people in with truth and then stick your lies subtly into the article itself, but coming right out and saying "RICK PERRY IS BIPARTISAN NOW" doesn't make it true.

Look, the similarities between Rick Perry and St. Paul of Tarsus are becoming too numerous to ignore.  I think it is pretty safe to say that Christ has chosen Perry, just like he chose Paul, to redefine the Christian faith to believers through out the world.

It's a bad sign when the first 12 paragraphs are about the glasses, right? I mean, if you want to address them, in an effort to move beyond it and stop meaningless questions, fine. But....damn.

But I also share it because, at least in my experience, it's somewhat unusual for a (potential) presidential candidate to call up and lead a reporter so far into the medical weeds.

Yeah, it's almost as if he lacks good judgment and/or acumen, since if you had wanted to, you could have torn him to pieces over what I'm sure what a hilarious, rambling 20 minute defense of his eye-wear.

I also love that he's "bipartisan" now, simply because he is willing to admit that government is something that should exist.

Talking about anything Perry says or does is a liberal hit piece.

He looks like the Marlboro Man. He looks how an American President should look. Blogs should limit themselves to pictures of Perry hunting, riding horses, clearing brush, and the like.

Think about it. When you see a picture of the Marlboro Man smoking, that's just fair and balanced. It's a rugged American man doing rugged manly work. Its just natural. But once you start talking about lung cancer and emphysema, that's a hit piece against good, honest American tobacco companies. Its a liberal smear against the job creators.

That's how it works with Perry as well. If you do anything but show his picture, you hate America.

It will be at least a generation before another Texas governor is elected President.

2014-08-04 10:45:08 AM
Rick Perry won't get the nomination.  He made himself look like a bumbling idiot in the debates.  I know that the fark liberals will point out that he is a bumbling idiot because he's Rick Perry, Conservative Governor of Texas.  He isn't a bumbling idiot, but the PR image is now out there for conservatives in other states to see and remember and they, like me, aren't that impressed. He's to evangelical for me, personally.

Interesting side note: Ben Carson announced a short time ago he's forming his own PAC and he is closer to deciding to run for President.  I don't think Ben will get the nomination on the grounds of lack of experience, but he has a better PR image than Rick Perry.  We'll just have to wait to see who throws their hat in the ring after the new year.  That's when people will start deciding to run or not to run.
