I was about to look out of the window to see if I could see it, but that was yesterday!

Gothnet: I was about to look out of the window to see if I could see it, but that was yesterday!

I almost did that, but then I saw the picture in the article and it looked tiny, also I'm in an office that faces west, and at the bottom of a hill, so my chances of seeing it were bad even before it was yesterday.

Great Headline. Took me a minute to figure out why I found it so funny.

OK so I'll be the first to say I don't get the headline reference that everyone is finding so funny...

In that recycled materials can be viewed as second hand items, hence producing second hand smoke.

/not funny if you have to explain it

Worked a fire some years back at a company that sorted construction waste, stockpiled a huge amount that eventually started burning from the inside, probably from decomposition heating.  That smell is something I won't soon forget.  Two or three straight days of tanker shuttling before they had the pile totally ripped apart and extinguished.

Go and see Spectra, at Victoria Tower Gardens, up-close before it leaves on Sunday. It's absolutely breathtaking.

I'm mildly amused by all the water references in the story - the plant is on Creek Road in Rainham and water from the Thames was used in the firefight.
