To hell with functionality, if NASA wants funding, they need to start building stuff that looks like that.

And have it talk in a nasal voice over single-side band.  The *WRONG* single-side band.

I'd rather spend money on fleets of Mars Rovers exploring the planet before we piss away huge mounds of money sending a couple people there to trudge around a small area, pick up some rocks and come back.

/my perfect world: Rovers deliver samples to sample return spacecraft.

lol. They gave us the safety warning info for carbon monoxide? Thanx gais, nao I no not to breathe on Mars.

Seriously though this is a big time in human history. We're trying to get there but meanwhile we atleast have rovers rolling around on another world. At some point these things will be in a museum built around them by the first Martians to set foot on the red planet... Already they've given us lots of evidence of past bodies of water and possible evidence of (brief) liquification of the ice that's there now.

Sources say they just wanted to get that off their chest..

As a kid, I participated in some sort of essay contest (details lost in time) where we submitted our suggestions and recommendations for the vehicles of the Space Shuttle program.  I don't remember much about my entry, except that I definitely wanted to put lasers on the shuttle.

So in a sense, my dream has finally come true!

Enough with Mars. Why don't they try to land something where we know there is water? Like Europe or Enceladus.

We're not allowed to land on Europa.
