You'd have to drop her too, after about 10 steps, I mean, my back can only take so much.

I've never known any agency to drop someone. Ignore you? Yes. Drop you? How does that benefit them.

It's more likely she felt they weren't helping her and she found new representation.

After reading the article, she seems like the sort of high maintenance person that I can see an agent dropping because $15k an episode isn't worth the hassle. People with non-licensed service animals are generally nuts and entitled.

There was an article years ago that caused kerfuffle about a business that every new year sat down and decided what customers they should get rid of. Amen.

Meh. This sort of thing happens all the time. Thousands of actors, thousands of roles, tens of thousands of "near miss" stories going both ways:

"Wow, if it weren't for this crazy coincidence, X never would have happened." - Maybe we appreciate that it happened (Danny Trejo, for example) but if it hadn't we'd have never known. How many thousands of those have we already missed... we'll never know.

"Look at this dumbass who turned down a role that made this other guy a huge star." - You don't know if it would have worked out the same for the first guy and/or for the film itself. Bruce Willis and Alan Rickman made Die Hard what it is. That's not to say that another combination couldn't have pulled it off, but it's certain that not just any other duo could have done it.

As for Mad Men, a successful period piece comes with its own perils for actors; namely, being typecast. Most of the leading cast does so well that it's hard to imagine them in anything else. Even Jon Hamm seems to have limited exposure outside the show despite being called the next Cary Grant or George Clooney. Maybe that will all change once the show is done, but I wouldn't place bets on any one person. The guy who plays Cosgrove probably has as good a chance (or perhaps even better) of being a big star as Hendricks or Hamm.

I don't get that decision. What agency drops an actor who has just gotten work? Would they rather she not be working at all?

I just looked her up. Before Mad Men, she wasn't well-known at all. She lucked into the role of Saffron on Firefly (and appeared in all of two episodes), but that show had a crazy cult following.

Except for one movie in 1999, all of her film roles have been since 2007 - or since Mad Men launched.

Oh, I'm not saying they are crying over it, because, as you say, this sort of thing happens all the time and they could have been right. It was an educated guess based on the information at the time and they likely have been right about things like that before. But I also don't think they are congratulating themselves on the decision and saying "Great Jorb!"

Pretty sure no one is questioning why he married her, more like why she married him. Maybe dude makes her laugh or is hung like a mule or something.
