Damn antisemitic Hollywood Jews.

I'd imagine Voight's support of the filmmaking "talents" of Dinesh D'Souza would be a bigger issue to the average Emmy voter.

If it hurt his chances of getting work in Hollywood, then that would be strange, but awards committees are fickle and image-conscious.

That shouldn't be overlooked.

Oh, you mean the film that was so oppressed by the lamestream media that it's still playing once a day here in Denver at one place? Maybe it just sucks but can pull in enough fundies.

That's why I'd bet he doesn't much care whether or not he gets the award. People who really care about winning tend to stick to the smiley-happy script during award season for fear of killing their chances.

Jon Voight has been unhinged since forever and a day ago. I can't imagine that this is news to anybody over the age of 30.

It doesn't. This piece seems to be trying to set up the talking point of "Being conservative lost him an award!", while ignoring the fact that he wouldn't have won one anyway, because Ray Donovan is just godawfully boring and cliched.

Where are all the conservatives telling him to "just shut up and act" the way they do to politically outspoken liberal performers? I'm sure they will be around any minute now.

His acting on Ray Donovan is awful, the accent he puts on is annoying as is the one employed by Ray's wife. Both rank right up there with Martin Sheen's "microprahcessahs" from The Departed.

If there's two things you can count on, it's these.

1) films and television shows will be made either set in, or featuring people from the town of Boston Mass.

2) People from said town will biatch and whine about how horrible their accents are.

I don't think Penelope Cruz and Bardem are mid-east scholars... but a lot of the hate on them seems to be from people asking "what do they know about living in Israel with the threat of terrorism yadda, yadda, anti-semites"

Apparently... they forgot that even though the Spanish government hasn't always been super nice to their Basque population, they didn't carpet bomb Bilbao every time ETA killed someone. The couple may have mostly missed out on the Franco dictatorship but they are probably aware of how everyone who disagreed with the government was labelled a communist as a way of intimidation much in the same way that anyoone who point's out that the Israeli government has hawkish, ethnic cleansing, apartheid tendencies is accused of antisemitism. So yeah... Bardem and Cruz may have some relevant experience to draw on in this matter.

Fun drinking game.

Open two browser tabs to Youtube. In tab 1, have a pre-2008 Voight political interview up and in tab 2 have a post-2008 interview up. Take a drink every time the slobbering nut in tab 2 vilifies Obama at the same time the slobbering nut in tab 1 is crying because people are saying mean things about George W. Bush.

I wonder if he actually had to flip a switch 01/20/2009 or if the transition between "RAH RAH HE'S OUR PRESIDENT" and "THAT THERE GUY IS THE DEBIL INCARNATE" is more like changing gears sans clutch.

Awwww. I see you have issues with reading comprehension as well as the typical learning disabilities common to beantown residents. I said people don't give a fark...and this is true. They don't give a fark about what you and other beantown crybabies think about the way thespians reproduce that pathetic gibberish you pass off as an accent. What we do give a fark about is your relentless pathology that drives you to comment on it like you think that we do. We don't. It's just not that important, sorry.

Now have a popular FARK meme to soothe you while you contemplate this on the Tree of Woe...

If this is indeed the case, then Hollywood awards should lost all validity and be relegated to popularity contests.
