Please, it's Jon Bon Jovi, if anything he'll relocate them to New Jersey.

Jack Lambert's Missing Teeth: Buffalo? Haha they've never been good!

So, Bon Jovi's a perfect owner, then!

There's a really poor tribe in Nigeria or the Congo or something that believes the Bills had a dynasty in the 90's.

Translation: "If we get the team, we're going to hold you hostage for a new stadium."

I don't know why he even bothered, the sabres guy put up more money and is the owner type the NFL wants. Unlike Trump who did it as a publicity stunt, I'm utterly confused by what Bon Jovi is doing.

He's halfway there, living on a prayer. It won't happen.

Dude is talkin out both sides of his mouth now. I had no idea Bon Jovi was such a liuge bullshiat artist. And hes not even very good at it apparently..Buffalo fans I hope him and Trump both get the hell away from your team. Dont need another bad owner farking up a team

Yeah, whatever.

Pegula's going to buy the team, and build a new stadium on the Buffalo waterfront adjacent to First Niagara Center and HarborCenter.

Not an owner of any of the Bon Jovi catalog, then?

and now there's a story out that says because of JBJ's letter and Trump's inability to just shut the fark up, they have violated the non-disclosure terms of the agreement that allowed them to bid in the first place, so they have essentially knocked themselves out of the running.

There is no way that clause is ever going to be executed. Not with billions on the line. The NDA is only to prevent damage to the sale price, and it doesn't appear that either JBJ or Trump did so.

A couple things:

1) Bon Jovi is not the only person in his group making the bid, so it's a little odd that people keep focusing on him. He's got the entire Rogers company backing him up; a company that has been dedicated to bringing the Bills to Toronto for the past 5+ years.
2) There's no way the Bills stay in Buffalo. No matter who owns them. Even Pegula. You don't spend that kind of money on a sports team to watch it stagnate in a tiny market when there's much larger markets around. Yeah yeah, "he saved the Sabres" and all that. The NFL is a very different beast than the NHL. There's no way that Buffalo can continue to sustain the market for an NFL team. It's just not happening.

I don't know enough about it to dispute anything in you say.  I was just putting it out there (and my dumbass forgot to link the story I was referencing, so here it be)

No, the language may not be "iron clad", but it's there and considered by some to be "ultra-restrictive".  I don't have a dog in the fight, so I don't really care (my bid of 58 dollars and a case of Molson was rejected out of hand)

Last time I checked, there were already two "New York" teams playing in New Jersey. Might as well add the third one.

The Green Bay Packers would view your assertion with a certain amount of skepticism.

They did. In the AFC.

True, but according to all reports, JBJ is only interested in being the controlling owner, and according to NFL rules, controlling owner needs to own at least a 30% stake.  JBJ's total net worth is somewhere in the $400-$500M range, and not all of that is liquid.  As the price climbs north of $1B, the Toronto group as currently constituted becomes unable to bid, since JBJ would not be able to afford a controlling stake.

Pegula would keep them in Buffalo.  So would Golisano.  Remember that the NFL makes most of its money from TV, and the Bills still clear tens of millions of dollars in profit every year, even playing in their ancient stadium.  They'd make even more playing in a new stadium in Buffalo, but the point is, they are not exactly ailing in their current market.  It's a profitable operation in Buffalo.

Not every potential owner is going to care that they could potentially make even bigger profits in another market, particularly one such as Pegula who's a local guy already heavily invested in downtown redevelopment efforts, and which a new Bills stadium could be an additional piece.

Remember most of these guys are super-rich to begin with, and a sports team is a toy to them.  They don't need these operations to maximize every possible cent of profit, especially if they are already very profitable anyway.  Pegula just cleared multiple billions through selling off some of his oil business, and he could make multiple billions more that way.  He's not going to need the potential extra millions the Bills could make in another market vs the millions they already make in Buffalo.

Here's the thing: even if it's bought by ownership who wants to move to Toronto, they really can't move until 2020 at the earliest with their stadium lease. And I doubt they want 6 lame duck seasons in Buffalo.  So of course they're all going to say that.

Except those 6 seasons would be spent getting a stadium built, so they would have difficulty hiding it.

I don't think there is a snowball's chance in hell that they move to Toronto, though.
