I'm surprised they reported these things about themselves.  I clicked the link clearly thinking these were all against UGA since Spurrier hates them with the fury of a billion suns.

I'm thinking they're reporting these things in a childish, "Okay, you want everything, fine - you get every piddling, trifling little stupid goddamn thing."  And it makes me wonder what big things they aren't reporting.

Probably some heinous stuff like getting textbooks.

It's more of a "See how much we've cooperated with compliance over the last X number of years?" in case something major comes down the pipeline.

I'm more stoked about Spurrier giving ECU some love, even if it was to take a shot at the SEC's "You must schedule an out-of-conference game against a P5 team" policy.

He's right.  EZU's a good team.

Under the Sagarin ratings, by my count, they'd rank 12th in the SEC, 11th in the Pac, 9th in the ACC, 9th in the Big 12, and 8th in the Big 10.

Under the Football Outsiders ratings, they'd be 10th in the SEC, 9th in the Pac, 8th in the ACC, 7th in the Big 10, and 6th in the Big 12.

One of the violations was allowing a recruit to wear a USC jersey for a picture he was taking to make his commitment to the school. Apparently that was just too far. Within three years the big 5 will break away and form their own governing body. Emmert should have stayed at LSU. He had more power there than he does now at the NCAA.

I think it would be great for all schools to start self reporting trivial nonsense like this, just to overwhelm the NCAA system and show how silly things have gotten.

Not sure who the biggest joke is, the NCAA, FIFA or the IOC

i didn't read the article, or the thread... but, does it have to do with some kind of marketing saturation.

back in my tobacco retail days, if you wanted a good price on phillip morris or rj reynolds shiat, you had to blanket X % of your shelf space with their product, and Y % or your walls with their ads.  otherwise, you wouldn't get a good price, meaning you would lose your ass to race track down the street.

is this like the inverse?  can't have X % of shiat for your school?

So it is against the rules to show off trophies in the locker room to recruits?  How incredibly stupid.

This isn't a PAC12 or a BIG10 school, so I'm expecting the NCAA will give them a free pass for being such good southern gentlemen.

When my niece was being recruited to play lacrosse in college, she went on an official visit to Maryland.  My mom and I were invited too (which I thought was strange), and so my sister (niece's mom), my mom (niece's grandma) and I (niece's uncle) met my niece after she watched a practice at the women's lax facility.  There were bagles and stuff like that - the UMD staff made it perfectly clear that we could each have one bagle and one cup of coffee or juice (they were watching us like hawks).  I basically decided not say a word to anyone other than my mom and sister while we were there.  It felt like we were in 1930's Soviet Union.

The awesome part is that we all got tickets to the UMD-Carolina men's basketball game that afternoon.

/Niece ended up going to Duke

Schools have to self-report this dumb stuff all the time, mainly so they don't get hit with "lack of institutional control" down the road. ALL major schools do this, and yes, they all get a slap on the wrist, so we'd appreciate it if you quit your whining.

I love the numbnuts on here how have no clue how college football works.

These were reported because the NCAA has a policy of making EVERY SCHOOL self-report minor violations.

2014-08-05 12:56:26 AM
In fact...if folks would read the article they would see these "violations" are across all sports.
